What's everyone up to? Looks a bit more favourable, weather wise, compared to last weekend I think?

Quiet here, OH has just taken Salty's shoes off :( that's the end of that :( To cheer myself up I've just put another PSG music entry in for next week so will spend the weekend doing a bit of practice of the Hard Things and some exploring round the bridleways.

Have fun everyone :)

Sad about Salty but glad you have Hard Things to focus on.

I had a jumping lesson today with that instructor I used after Aston le Walls. And girls have a lesson with her after school tomorrow. She's really good and much cheaper than my usual jumping RI.

I feel like Amber and I have been stuck at 80/90 cm for ages. I did my first competitive 80 last March - over a year ago - and I still haven't done a 90 course anywhere apart from at a BE90. In training I jump up to 100cm but not full courses. Oh well, it will come when it comes.

NSEA Eventers Challenge for the girls on Sunday at Epworth.

Finally having the lesson that I have been trying to fit in for the last couple of weeks, between the weather and schedules it was becoming impossible!!

Hoping we are not in for any more stormy weather for a while!

I'm doing a mini ODE - which means my first dressage test in about 8 years! I'm not expecting to get great scores....
I am doing the 80 class which is why i'm stuck with Prelim 14, would rather do an easier test but I didn't want to drop my jumping height. Although i'm back to feeling nervous about 80 but know we can do it :)

If anyone has any tips for prelim 14 feel free to share! We've not quite got the give and re take the reins bit down yet ha ha...

I think the step up from 80-90 is a lot simpler than 90-100. At 90 you can still go into a fence as a total car crash and have a good chance of getting away with it, much less room for error when coming up to a 100cm oxer...

I am doing the RC area dressage qualifier on sunday with Rose. N28 as an individual and N34 as a team member. I haven't ridden much recently as following my fall, I was too stiff to do much so Rose went off to my trainer then I was away in sunny Barcelona last week. However, Rose seems better after her back treatment, much softer and back on side. I had my back and neck done this afternoon and am nearly pain free, hoorah! Tomorrow I am running through the tests, Saturday I'm hacking and then Sunday is comp time. Happy to say I have great times and the weather is looking good too although we still have a lot of work to do on the canter, hopefully we can get through the tests!
Good luck to everyone who is out this weekend and I hope you see some lovely sunshine. I'd post some pics of Barcelona but it would only make people cross!

Lesson on Sat, can't decide who to take... Topaz feels epic at the moment (think the new school surface agrees with her), but could probably do with more help with the rebel that is Skylla...

Sad about Salty MP :(, have you seen Sparsholt will be running a combined PSG/ INT I pas de deux at their festival of dressage, I totally think you need to find a partner and let Kira show everyone how awesome she is!

Clever little horse somehow managed to self harm on Monday so nothing much for us for a couple of weeks. We do have some bandage changes to look forwards to!
I'm going to go and watch a clinic with a very good USA judge and trainer one day of the weekend to try and keep my eye in.

Sorry about Salty MP :(.
Good luck to everyone out and about!

We'll hopefully be hacking (! I know, actually riding my horse!) this weekend. I'm currently fighting a losing battle with hoof boots so I'm considering shoeing her for the summer. She's much better out of shoes and it feels wrong to shoe her just for my convenience so I'll probably just continue fighting boots but it's adding nearly 30 mins to my tacking up time.

A free jumping lesson on Friday night, in exchange for helping out Sunday morning at the under 10 gymkhana.

Not sure if I'm more terrified about a jumping lesson for the first time in 15 years, or approx 20 sugar fuelled kids on hyped up welshies and Shetlands...

MP, I'm sorry about Salty. The shoe removal is always such a horribly final day.

Sorry to hear that MP, that's sad. So she will be retired or just turned away and see what happens?

XC clinic on Sunday. My first visit to tweseldown which I've been meaning to get to for ages. Am feeling a teensy bit nervous which is interesting as the last few outings I haven't really had that many nerves, unusually. Was hoping this was a new era but I think I had just forgotten and now that I've been out again, the nerves might be coming back. Hmm, need to put a stop to that !

Oh MP, so sorry x
Having put B Fuzzy through 3 days of boot camp with local pro event rider, I sat on her today there and was pleasantly happy, tho lots to build on. Quiet hack tomorrow.
Hopefully back to pro riders yard for flat lesson with his trainer on Sat.
No plans yet for Sunday.

Sorry to read at Salty MP, but sounds like the right thing to do.

We are taking Aria and Pip ( me on Pip) around Somerford farm ride on Saturday. Both girls need a blast as they've been a bit fresh lately. Then sunday taking Finn and Frank showing. Daughter is doing ridden hunter on Finn, and Im taking Frank in the youngstock class. Sunday will be erm , interesting, and of course educational:p

lol, yes I had seen that! It sounds like immense fun but I don't know anyone local enough to practice anything.

the day I accepted defeat and put shoes back on Millie really made my life a lot easier... I felt like a failure but I just couldn't cope with boots any longer.

well, for now she's got the most important job on the yard of keeping Kira company so no change until something else comes along. Got feelers out looking for something else to ride but in the meantime she has a life of luxury on the yard :) if I find another then she can go and join Auntie Millie (literally, on the stallion side) in the field ;)

Sorry to hear about Salty MP, great she has an Important Job to do for the mean time.

On a similar sad note, I think I have to accept that there is something wrong with my TB :( I haven't had the best of luck the last few years and I'm terrified it's something terrible which is so sad because she's just the loveliest horse ever and only 6... So I am taking the pressure off her for the next 8 weeks until we are both home, and then off to a specialist horsepital to see if we can find what is causing her grief (I am currently on a small island with limited diagnostics experts and equipment, turning her out will do her no harm for now).

At least I have the wee pony to bumble around on. Only 5 weeks until they both return a few thousand kms North home, can't wait to join them! Have a great weekend all :)

Ahh MP, I'm sorry about Salty!

Northern, I hope you find something easy to fix with your TB, and that ferry trip would give me nightmares.

AE, the jump up to 100 is tricky, and something I have trained so much at home but never got to at an actual event (although here we go 95-105 in eventing). The jump in complexity is pretty big, and for me that added 5cm (we sj 100 happily) is too much for my pea brain to process!

Hnery and I have a flat lesson (was going to be jumping but like, jumping is the easy bit!). Last one before we go away, and while I am excited about a holiday a really big part of me wants to stay home and ride ponies...

The rest of the weekend will be spent packing and doing a few last minute things before we fly out on Tuesday. Eek, so close now.

Sorry about Salty MP :( Fingers crossed you find another to ride soon.

Bernster - Tweseldown is great fun, I'm sure you'll love it! There's a great range of jumps at all heights. I wish I could go xc schooling but with Pocholo on loan and Indio no longer jumping I don't have anyone to take!

I have a lesson with a different trainer today as I need a couple of BD training lessons to gain eligibility for the Inter-Regionals this year. However I doubt my scores will be good enough to make a team anyway! But he's got a great reputation and is closer than my usual trainer so could be a handy addition. Then patio-laying tomorrow before an equi-pilates lesson on Sunday along with Pocholo and his loaner, so that should be fun!

Hard to believe it's the weekend again ;)

So sorry MP, I know the feeling when I gave up and turned flora away...

Northern I hope it's nothing serious wrong with your TB. Everything crossed for you x x

Good luck oldie, hope rose is back to her normal lovely self..

Good luck at your ODE chippers, we have one on Easter Monday

Yesterday I had an amazing lesson, I told my trainer I'd like to work on canter quality and we did loads of exercises withholds and small jumps. He was really super, and never put a foot wrong, and his jumping canter was fab.

This morning I hacked the ponies ride and lead before rain started, meeting milk tankers, school bus and builders...

F may ask to go to SJ tonight, but last week he wasn't in bed until 11, and hence was so cross all day Sat...

On Saturday we are going to hack early, and then heading off to the first event of the season. Hubby to help with scoring, and me and F might find a job too. We will definitely walk the course though.

Sunday is busy with WH for F and Daisy in the morning and a dressage lesson for me and Fionn in the afternoon.

Fiona
