it's Thursday afternoon, whoo hooo, broken the back of the week :D

what's everyone got planned this weekend?

We moved yards yesterday and are now based next door to trainer's place. Bit amazed that it all came off cos I couldn't quite believe that it would happen, but we are in and now you'd have to drag me out kicking and screaming :p
Had a good lesson yesterday - well it was good in that we achieved another breakthrough in the passage work but it was hard won as Kira and Darcy were shouting their heads off for each other and K spent quite a lot of the time on her back legs, BAD PONY :p
This morning she just did some easy forward supple stuff to reset her stressy brain. It'll be so brilliant to have easier access to help and also a more consistent environment :D

Not a lot planned for the weekend, finish collecting the big stuff from old yard and get Darcy up to speed again ;)

Have fun all :)

MP, that sounds like a perfect yard, woohoo!

We are going up to a local club tomorrow for some pace work for fun then Saturday morning XC training hopefully before the rain!

Then MAYBE sj on Sunday but they are forecasting very wet weather and thunderstorms so maybe not!:p More like I'll go for lunch with friends and hide away inside. Hopefully still get out for a ride though.

Have fun all, hope you're not baking. It's cold here!

Glad to hear you're all happily moved - it sounds perfect!

We've been out Hunt Ambling again this week - it's a lovely way to pass an evening and Mickey is ecstatic to be back out again and mum's ginger pony is coping with it all quite well, he jumped a couple of logs so she's ecstatic. We had some very nice canters across the stubble fields as the sun was dropping. I've booked us in again next week, it's much more laid back than usual and is just going out for a hack with a couple of others on land you wouldn't normally be allowed on.

I've changed Pod's dressing a few times, his gash looks to be healing up quite nicely which is a relief. He's quite handy with a back leg, so wasn't much looking forward to it, but a nice big bit of dead sheep on his headcollar so he's blinkered does an astonishing job and he stands like a lamb - weird animal.

I was toying with taking Solo out jumping as he's been jumping so well, but he downed tools again yesterday. So that's out, whilst I put the wheels back on. So probably a chilled weekend this time.

I can join in this weekend. Nothing as exciting or as brave as everyone else but I am hacking DP out with a friend on Friday and going on a fun ride on Saturday. I am leaving DP at home and taking my little Connie as his sharer is away on holiday which means I get to have fun with him and do a bit of jumping ?

Ah MP so glad the move went well.

I haven't got anything planned. This weather has really knocked me this week and I just feel so fed up with EVERYTHING (couldn't even pin point why or at what, just fed up!). I haven't ridden since early Monday morning and looking at the weather forecast probably wont be able to this weekend either (predicted thunderstorms all weekend and I don't fancy getting stuck in the country park in a storm... J is super bombproof but even I draw the line there!).

MP - that's great news about the successful move! Are you able to use AMD's arenas regularly in that case, or do you have your own non-spooky one now?
Dyllymoo - I didn't like your post as you sound so fed up :( I hope the weekend is better than predicted, it's been an awful week going from the heat and humidity to huge storms.

Danny and I have a quiet weekend of hacking and schooling, ahead of our BD camp next weekend. We had a good schooling session yesterday (the yard had a 20x60 arena set up, which was fab!), I really focused on the position and hand changes from my lesson last week and he responded beautifully. Almost too together and collected at times, so we mixed in a few 'yeehaas' to keep him forward. Can't wait for camp next week!

current arrangement is to use the AMD ones though they are planning to put in a separate arena at some point.

Huge bonus is it's going to be much easier to see friends going for lessons :D I can work from there quite easily, got lorry office sorted this morning :p and basically can do any time if we decide to go for a HHO clinic at some point!

Picked up box from the garage earlier (now has working indicators!) so I can go off to Eland lodge tomorrow for a bit of xc schooling. Not forecast to be wet or too hot which is lucky. I will take it easy though as I'm aware of the ground conditions!
Bit annoyed that the garage didn't get a chance to check the box over ahead of it's MOT on sat but he did say to bring it straight in when it fails (he's as optimistic as I am about it :D) but i'm hoping for a pass!
Then probably a hack on sun to finish off the weekend.

Ooh! I'm off on a road trip with B Fuzzy tomorrow morning, staying a couple of nights with a fellow forum user (hope she isn't going to murder me for incessant nattering, or an unfit pony as we have slowed up the past 10 days or so as been so hot!!) and back on Sunday. Looking forwards to riding on her home patch and taking a fun ride in on the Saturday with jumpies ! Whoop!

Awesome! I've now booked on BD camp so that'll do us for this month, then my lorry is off for service and MOT in early September so reckon it'll be early October before I realistically make it over. I'm feeling ready for a Justine lesson now Danny's turned a corner!!

All change for me. I have spammed the forum a few times that mum has been ill and I have kept having to put my horse on the back burner to sort it all out. Well, I have decided to sell her and buy something either older or cobby. Something that needs less time and mental attention. Something that I can take to the beach for a blast. I bought her to event primarily, and I can't see me doing that. She is good for a competition type, but maybe I want a furry friend now.

So, this weekend I will be cooking up an advert, scouring adverts and generally getting my head round it all.

I am so please for you Milliepops. Have a great weekend everyone else.

This is exciting after all the recent yard problems! Is it much further away for you?

I’m back to Cholmondeley on Sat to FJ at their new unaffiliated event. I’ve only ever done BE before but it’s being run by the same people so I assume it’ll all be the same?

shame about your horse but it does sound like it'll take a bit of pressure off while it's all been so full on. Hope you can find your perfect low maintenance steed to have some fun with.

it's about twice as far but it's an easy drive and well worth it for the support and positive environment :) one thing I have really missed from my eventing days was having a peer group that were all trying to do the same thing. we all packed up BE at the same time, the others moved away and since then I've been the only competitive rider on yards for about a decade now. it's lonely esp when you're going through a rough patch. Plus i'll be sharing arenas with a pro GP rider a fair bit and there's nothing like a good example for making you up your game!

Wow! Sounds like a great move MP :) Fabulous to be so near your trainer AND to have some like minded folks on the yard. I really hope you enjoy and can make the most of your new place - it sounds dreamy!!

Well done on the move MP, sounds like you have made the right decision.

I have a friend coming over to school with me on Saturday as we need to film some online dressage, and then I'm off for a lesson on Sunday. I haven't seen my instructor in about a month, and have done very little schooling (have been hooning around the countryside and jumping instead) so it will be a very needed lesson.

Good luck to all who are out this weekend, let us know how you get on

Congratulations re new yard MP.
Sorry about your mum Red - hope the horse selling/buying helps to take pressure off and gets you some fun time.

Had a pole work lesson Tuesday - despite the heat mr H was very good and gave some lovely canter. I got told off for poor steering ?.

Had an early morning hack with my friend yesterday.

Tomorrow have a rescheduled lesson on the beach aimed at curing mr H’s bumptiousness and my panic attacks on the beach. Probably a flatwork lesson on Sunday too. (I’m spending too much on lessons...justifying it since not done any comps this year due to covid.)

Have a good weekend everyone.

Yard move sounds great,MP.
Have fun Chippers. Gutted I can't make it but even though Toby is sound again I don't want to jump him yet.
Good luck Red 1 - sorry life is so hard. Having a fun go anyhere pony friend is great though. And a lot less stress and work than having a competition horse.

Took Dolly for a spin round Kelsall - motto 'jump it first time EVERY time' because even though she jumps first time 90-95% of the time at clinics and comps, that occasional stop means very expensive XC faults which we need to try and eliminate. So Katie was fully fired up and Dolly flew everything. So fingers crossed for eventing next weekend.

Otherwise quiet one for us. I'll have a ride on Toby tomorrow as he has stayed sound despite going bananas with turn out. Then hacking or in hand walks probably over the weekend. We are going barefoot so I need to get him onto a variety of surfaces.

Have fun all those out and about and good luck to everyone competing.

I'm off work all this week and managed to get a spot on an Andy Thomas tTest clinic today. I think the man is an actual wizard. He did a little bit of manipulation and suddenly being straight and balanced was effortless. I could ride without a thought for whether I was correct and just play about with supercob doing a bit of lateral work and generally moving him around. Highly recommend him to anyone after that. I've got some exercises to do to maintain that now as well.
We're having a run to the beach tomorrow. It's really not my thing so I'll be groom/childminder/photographer for the day, bit of teaching tomorrow evening then on Saturday I'm going to visit my yard owner who will be at camp at somerford and take some pics of her.
Sunday we have an arena one day at bold again. Which reminds me I need to learn my test, hopefully he'll jump as well as last week and as he does a good test we might be somewhat competitive this time. Either way, it's all good mileage and practise.

Good luck all and have fun.

We had a few days there where M was not a happy bunny again although seems a little better today. Not sure if it's the laminitis or something else but he keeps getting a sore back so off to the vets we go on monday!

So, hand walking again for us. One step forward and all that... :(

I'm going to be doing my homework from my lesson on Wednesday. It's the first time in 40 years I've ever been sent home to work on walk. My trainer says his walk is so ground covering that it will improve his strength and balance to collect it up.

And I'll be continuing Deza's (very ?) basic training in the arena and on the road.

Lexi you'll be fence judging a flying dun Connemara with a friend riding him at his first ODE in the 90.

Good luck to everyone competing.

Off to read your write up now Rox, since Daffy recommended I've littered on their website a bit. Would love to go on a clinic - did you book a private session or go to one of their clinics? I couldn't quite work out from their website how it all worked

Yay! So pleased for you MP, that sounds amazing (also rather jealous). You so deserve a decent setup after the run of blah yards you've had.

Not much planned for me, mainly clearing up after the weather . New physio is here on Saturday, so hopefully the horses will enjoy and Arty won't try to eat her, and pebbles won't act like she's a pony murderer ?. I do love my girls but they are not always the most socially respectable.

It was a local (ish) yard who run fairly top end clinics with guest trainers - primarily (if not all) private sessions. Andy seems to travel to places and do for instance a day or two of sessions. I believe if you've had the initial assessment you can book a shorter follow up session.
