what rugs has everyone put on tonight?

my fully clipped mare is in a lw combo (110g) with a hw high neck over the top, not "toasty" warm - just warm enough with plenty of haylage to keep her warm too

oh and she's in overnight

My unclipped tb is in his 425g hw stable with no neck and my id (arthritic)is in his 360g hw no neck. Just been out and checked them, both warm but not too warm.

ok so now i'm feeling reeeeeeally guilty for not putting a rug on my dartmoor :( however he has hay and until last summer he was wild on the moors so i'm sure he's put up with worse than this! Holsteiner x tb is in a 200g under rug and 200g stable rug on top,she is trace clipped.

Don't feel bad, I have 2 out without rugs as they have grown a thick enough coat to look after themselves, just because others are rugging it doesn't mean you should, what is right for one horse is not always right for another

My Arab x has a lightweight stable rug on, he was unrugged when turned out during the day.
My Welsh Sec A has his medium weight turnout rug on which he wore all day and will wear tomorrow - not sure why, but he does feel the cold.
Both unclipped but we live on the top of a very windy hill.

Not sure how we can tell whether your horse will be warm enough - only you know your horse. But one thing's for certain, with my two lami prone chaps, they will never be overweight or overrugged. :)

Not sure what temperature it's supposed to go down to exactly here tonight, but it was about -1 when I left the yard at 7ish, so am assuming it'll drop further. He's a fully clipped out Connie, admittedly beginning to grow back a teeny bit, and I put him in a fleece with a neck and a heavy weight no-neck on top of that. Seemed warm in this, but not too warm. Oh, and he's out during the day in just a plain old heavy weight T/O, and in at night :) xx

my oldie has a fleece underneath his hw rug as he was a bit cold when I checked him. the stable
block isn't very sheltered and it's to be -5 here tonight. I'd like to keep weight on him - its taken ages to get him to stop looking like a hat rack

Had a bit of a clip on Monday, not much hair taken off, but put on the thickest rug tonight as it is a "half neck" and comes well up over the shoulders and chest, just where he would be missing his hair! It is a very exposed stable, but so far this winter has only had the lightest of rugs. What a contrast!

-5 when we left the yard... It's a big american barn style stable with slatted top side walls so darn cold in there...

TB who has a coat like cotton velvet in summer or winter is in a thin fleece (with neck) with a 250g stable rug on top (no neck)... 2yr old QH, 10mth Sec D and a total teddy bear of a Sec B are in 100g stable rugs...

I do have a 400g stable with neck for the TB but haven't used it yet this winter...

I think she'll be fine :)
The two that are inside are in their 200g (i think?!) turnouts with detachable necks (necks on tonight!) - one has a hunter clip, one has a blanket.
The oldie who is outside has his 250g combo turnout and is very fluffy and a bit porky so he'll be fine! TB is out in her 250g combo with loads of hay to keep her going, she seems to stay warm and likes to run about getting warmer so don't want to over-rug her incase she cooks overnight! It's going to be -5ish tonight apparently. If it gets to -20 like last year then will be whipping the warmer ones out!

Mine are all fully clipped and all wearing pretty much the same - lightweight horseware, thick duvet under rug with neck/half neck, heavyweight horseware, topped off with thin unlined Horseware NZ to keep other rugs clean. If it gets any colder, hoods and leg wraps will come out too.

mine have 12oz (350grm) NZ rugs on in stable still have the 14 oz (400grm ) Nz and under rugs if ness

I dont rug up to weather I rug up to how horse feels. MY boy is fully clipped part from legs and he is toasties in his 350 viking silver interactive .

Mare has 350gm plus under rug and neck cover plus thermalux -hood knee and hock magnetic boots and stable wraps, as horse is 23 on box rest

Out mine currently has her meduim weight t/o with neck & a lightweight stable rug underneath.

In her stable she has a lightweight rug with neck on & a lightweight over the top. She doesnt really feel the cold much. She has a blanket clip

Mine lives out 24/7 and is in one HW without neck, he's got lots of grass to eat and if anything is a little on the warm side so i certainly won't be putting any more rugs on. He was chaser clipped but it's grown back quite a bit.

I don't know how some of these horses can walk with that amount of rugs :D

My youngster is very hairy and has enough weight on him so he is out w/o a rug and my anglo arab is out in his shires storm breaker 350gram with fixed neck. Once the temp comes back up out of the minus's I shall put him back into his 220 gram medium with a fixed neck. I try not to over rug him as he gets very grumpy having to wear them anyway, he would be most miffed if I layered him up so much that he couldn't walk!!! The only time I have put him in more than one rug at once was when it dropped to -18 here last winter. The dales pony that shares the field is out naked too.

As the wind is blowing straight into his stable at the moment he has a lightweight full neck with a medium no neck on top - was nice and warm this morning without being too hot.

my tb is difficult to keep weight on, he went out today in his 220g stable rug, 200 under rug and his outdoor 450 heavweight all full necks. On a night I change turnout for a 300g full neck stable as hes eating haylage all night (id rather feed him tons of haylage than tonnes of hard feed, he does get breakfast and dinner for vits) and rubber mats his stable stays warm. Hes fully clipped too legs everything.

My IDxCob mare, who is clipped and feels the cold really easily, tonight is wearing her amigo insulator rug, a fleece and then her MW stable rug on top of that. It may seem excessive but it works for her, and she's not too hot in a morning when she's checked on and turned out :) She may be cobby, but she's a wimp -but she's a very cute wimpy horse so can be excused :D

My arthritic welsh a is in a fleece and a heavyweight with a neck, and leg wraps.
My trace clipped connemara is in a heavyweight with leg wraps if I am feeling nice.
