Why do people want to own cobs?

Because we're not all built like Posh Spice!

Love it! Ditto! Because TBs legs just aren’t designed to carry a curvy! Just look at jockeys, tiny!

I will never understand it.

They are fat, lazy, hairier than Bigfoot, and usually bad tempered.
Their paces are so stilted, that they look as though they've had their legs tied together, which gives the rider a nasty jolty ride.
I suppose I can understand riding schools having them, for the scaredy novices, but once you can rise to the trot, surely you'd buy a decent blood horse, or at least a Warmblood?
Your thoughts?

It takes a bloody good rider to ride a cob well. They are so on the forehand that if you drop contact, they will fall over their own front feet.
grin.gif

Anyone can ride a TB, only a rider can ride a cob
grin.gif

correction Tankey, anyone can attempt to ride a TB, only the talented stay on

Cobs are fat enough to stop an elephant falling off

I dont like cobs either, Infact - when I got my horse I advertised for something on loan to be kept in 5* full livery and stated NO COBS! You just cant do as much with them as other types (I know they are suitable for lots of people but not me!) - you never saw a cob go round badminton, perform top dressage or jump a show jumping grand prix!!

LOL. Still loving this thread. Only Shils can get away with slating a breed that half the forum owns (including me), and give us all a good laugh!

Comes across as nasty if anyone else says it.

Naughty minx.

I have noticed a difference between when I owned a Tb and my present coblet.

For example in an open grass field Tb thinks it's time to gallop. My coblet on the other hand regards it as a snack stop!!

What an odd thing to say - of course you woulnd't see a cob performing at 4* level - you wouldn't expect to see a shitland either..

As for dressage. Well, actually there is a very good coloured gypsy cob doing very well. He was featured last year in HHO.

Oh this thread is so much fun.

actually I am begining to think that my mare has a laid back cob in her just trying to break out she is sooo horizontal...... there is a slight problem though she is a total skinny minny TB

Shils, I love cobs because they disguise the fact I'm a carp rider.
grin.gif
I also like shedding fur on the office carpet at work. Winds people up a treat.

How's that foot?

PMSL

I can only afford a cob

(Well pony
wink.gif
) And I like the fact I can ride as badly as possable, and the darling Ginga still clears the jump, and it is actually impossable to fall off him. (Except when you throw yourself off by mistake, and that so wasn;'t my fault) Pip is abit unfortunate, looks (a tiny) bit like a cob, but is probably even worse as a midget Pony, but isn't even easy to ride. Prehaps he should be eaten

I had an hanovarian mare - for about 3 weeks! What a horrible horse she was such an angel from the floor and absolutely stunning much bigger than your girl looked more like a lw/mw hunter - on board absolute psychopath!

Each to their own. I actually don't mind cobs, but have a dutch warmblood. No need to diss warmbloods just because you like cobs! Don't think all cob lovers have cobs because of the 'shortfalls' of warmbloods, would hope it's because they like the attributes of the cob itself. Wouldn't do for us (or horses) to all be the same.

Thought this might be a troll, but had to add my view anyway

He can do extended trot, although not much else is going for him. Can you eat the heads and feet? He has big feet and head but a small body, unfortunatley not much eating on him. GInga on the other hand would feed a family for a week
shocked.gif
His trot is so smooth even I can do sitting trot looking pretty, is that a redeeming factor?

Want a bet who will go to an international first, my midget cob or your WB? Or does driving not count, as thats a cobs sport
