I recieved a phone call at 9am from my field owner saying that whilst he was delivering my hay he had noticed my horse was out on the set aside.
I race out the house to the field and get a call half way there to say that he has been caught and him and his partner in crime pony friend have been out into the field shelter they have with the door shut.
Phew - relief, i ask if the horse is hurt in any way - the farmer replies 'no not that i can see' - great so i start breathing again!
So, imagine my horror when i look over the door and see THIS -
I honestly didnt know where to start
As i started cleaning it i could see stringy bits of tendon sheath, so decided to leave it til the vet got there (im not mad keen on blood either)
Corky was a true pro - he wasnt even sedated to have it cleaned, poked and prodded by the vet, he just stood there like a lamb!
The vet commented several times how good he was and how she couldnt believe he hadnt needed sedation.
The prognosis is good at the moment - all be it a bit long.
He is weight bearing and wasnt lame - tomorrow he will be sore as hell though.
I change the bandage on Friday and the vet re visits on monday to access.
There has been talk of possible skin grafts at a later stage, poor boy!
Not a great day - vibes for Corky that he makes a full recovery please
