nah don't worry lol i use them all the time as i said. they would be fantastic for him if he is saddle sensitive and as i said you can use them for anything.
I think he is nice but certainly over priced considering there are schoolmasters that are just as nice going for half the price. But if you like him then go for it.
Half pads can be used in conjunction with a numnah/ saddleloth or without. I tend to use mine if i am showing or schooling as it helps show off the shoulder a bit more. They are also good for that little bit extra protection to the back and also they can raise the saddle slightly. I adore mine...
