    Welcome to HHO Towing Clinic

Thanks very much, thats good to know that I'm just appalling at maths. Think I may have been on an inaccurate website, as I'm sure it had the max towing weight as 1200kg. So based on your sums I'm fine to tow the trailer with the freelander on a provisional license (as long as Im...

    Welcome to HHO Towing Clinic

Hi Rog, Was hoping you could give me a bit of advice. We currently have an ifor 510 which we were planning to pull using a freelander sport 2.5l, and taking my b & e test. However, after checking the towing weight of the freelander, it appears I couldnt tow with a horse in at all (assuming...

Do we in the award for latest and fugliest foal of 2012?!

Thank you all for your lovely (generous!!) replies. He's definitely starting to grow on me now - but we'd heard rumours that it may have been a friesian she was covered by so we were half hoping for a beautiful, sleek little black foal - which he clearly is not!! Not sure why some of you...

Do we in the award for latest and fugliest foal of 2012?!

My BOGOF finally arrived this weekend... Name suggestions anyone? Also a quick numpty question about rugging. We live on the coast in west wales and to say it rains alot would be an understatement! Do I need to think about rugging him? There's no shelter in the paddock he's in. At the...

Help please - do I need to call the vet?

Thanks toast, panic now over. Fingers crossed we'll have a foal soon as this whole waiting malarky is very stressful.

Help please - do I need to call the vet?

Thank you!! She has been swelling up over night for a few weeks now, and then comes back in in the evening and has reduced right down again. This is the first time she has had swelling on her stomach so wasn't sure if it was normal or not.

Help please - do I need to call the vet?

After a bit of advice on whether I need to get the vet out or not? Still waiting on a BOGOF foal to arrive. Mare has come in this evening with strange swellings on her stomach - I think it may be veins running to her udder. Her udder is hot and harder to the touch then it has been. It's also...

Anyone STILL waiting for mare to foal?

My BOGOF mare is still holding on. Vet estimated she'd be due around end of july and as yet, nothing. She bags up overnight, but by the time she comes in at the end of the day its gone back to nothing. Beginning to think it's never going to arrive!

How long do you think she has to go?

Thanks GR, have just had a good read of the milk testing thread - looks like I'm off to the garden centre tomorrow! She is actually very good and not to bothered about having her udders handled. Not sure she has anything there to express at the moment though. Will check out surelimb too, see if...

    Does my mare look pregnant?

We had a similar situation with our mare, she had a big low belly but no weight elsewhere, was very quiet and hadn't had a season. We got the vet in the end just so we could be sure and vet was able to confirm she was in foal by rectal examination. She's supposed to be due in the next few weeks...

How long do you think she has to go?

Thank you all for your help, trying to absorb as much information as I can so I can be as prepared as possible. BennionsField, I've had the vet out already but as we're in a very rural part of Wales they're not really equine specialists so to speak! I know there's a lot of welsh pony studs...

How long do you think she has to go?

Thanks Miss L toe- really pleased with how well she's looking as she was really poor when we bought her. Did wonder whether she should be getting hard feed now, at the moment she's just on grass & hay?

How long do you think she has to go?

We bought her late November. Vet confirmed from a rectal, guessing if she'd been scanned they would have been able to give a more accurate due date? The only signs I've noticed so far are a very slight increase in the size of her bag/teats and a softening in her muscles behind. Either side of...

How long do you think she has to go?

Vet confirmed my mare was in foal about 3 weeks ago (BOGOF!) and said she thought about a month or so until she foaled. I've been reading posts on here and info online to as this is all new to me (if anyone can recommend some good websites about foaling would be very greatful?) and from what...

First timer - need some advice please

Thanks for your help Maesfen. Stable walls are all solid brick, it's just the front wall that has railings on top half. Wasn't sure how private they liked to be and whether it would distress her if the other horses could see her. There's no horses stabled either side, just one directly...
