Yes, he's great. At least he's a vet with a specialist interest in dentistry.
He was filmed (by channel 4 I think) doing my horse's (the late Dutchie) teeth and was always very thorough. He has a great knowledge of riding, bitting etc too.
Hi
My ex (note!) hated me riding or spending any time with my horse...he became my ex as he really wanted me to give up even though even HE wasn't very nice to me. The difference is, though, that I didn't live with him.
My bf now is wonderful, he loves it that I ride, he rode a lot as a...
Very sad indeed. I didn't know Laura personally but I watched her warm up and compete many times at competitions. I always remember how she used to take her stirrups away in the warm up to constantly develop her seat.
Condolances to her family, staff and horses who will all miss her greatly-...
Very, very sad to hear this news. Our horses are such fragile beings.
What an amazing horse who enjoyed a wonderful relationship with his rider, Maria.
I am really suprised by the lack of XC practice that people do! I have been thinking about XC all winter, so training up lots of hills, jumping banks, drops, steps etc in the New Forest whilst hacking. I have also been practicing "different" canters etc. I have been XC schooling once so far but...
It is so sad to hear that people were pushing tired ponies. Why weren't these ponies fit for the task in hand? Weren't there any welfare stewards to stop these riders/Nations?
The video was good except when Gemma Green said that some riders don't let their grooms in the living, and the grooms shower is in the horse area- probably not nearly as warm as the living. I haven't heard of riders not letting their grooms in the living area and I met someone who worked for her...
It depends. I do dressage but even then if the horse had wet mud on its legs most of it would have fallen off in the morning and you could brush the rest off easily.
You did brilliantly. You are doing all the right things, also make sure you aren't over feeding him and just ride him as much as you can. I am not suprised you were losing your confidence. Welldone.
You could try NAF Magic syringes, give her two an hour before you clip her. That should calm her down. Also cotton wool in the ears with a fly mask over the top will help. It just takes horses time to get used to it
Good photos
The more you go out the easier it will all become. I'm not a jumper lol but I like watching show jumping! I'm a dressage rider so it is fun to know what other people do etc.
I haven't had a lesson from him (I had a few with Jane Holderness Roddam when I was 14 and they were amazing- had I had more I would have gained so much confidence.) but I think it would be a great opportunity for you. Go for it!
