Hi,
There's a good set of questions and answers about the Cavallo boots here:

and an article about barefoot and boots here:

There's a guide to measuring hooves for Cavallos' here -http://www.horseandmore.co.uk/articles/Measuring-Hooves-For-Cavallo-Hoof-Boots.html
Cavallo say "A Simple Boot will fit a hoof width that exceeds the length by up to one size." Size 6 Simple Boots fit up to 157mm in length, toe to buttress...
In our experience Cavallo are very good for this sort of situation. There's some good information about them here -http://www.horseandmore.co.uk/articles/Horse-Boots-For-The-Barefoot-Horse.html
It is possible to wear Cavallos over shoes and some people do. Cavallo say they can't give the usual guarantee because of possible extra wear and tear. You have to adjust the sizing measurements to take into account the heel of the shoe. There is a Q&A about Cavallo boots here, including the...
Hi,
People are usually very happy with Cavallos when they get the right size. Cavallo themselves say a "Simple boot will fit a hoof width that exceeds the length by up to one size."
At 4.5 inches you are just below the range for a size 2 and 5 inches is just above the size 2. There is no...
Hi there,
With Cavallo hoof boots a lot of people have the Simple boots on the front and the Sport boots on the back. Sport tend to fit the back hooves better as they are slightly narrower than Simple. Works well. Liz
Hi,
If the length (ignoring the heel blub and taking into account a trim) is between 134 and 141mm and the width is about the same then Cavallo 4 Simple is the right choice. If the width is 5mm or more narrower than the length, go for 4 Sport.
Liz.
We have a youngster of about the same age and have used Cavallo boots on her whilst she was recovering from an abcess last year and again this year when we were getting her to be comfortable with loading.
On both occasions she took to them straight away and they did their job. They kept her...
"What kind of work can you do in them?"
"Fast work [and] uneven ground, would the boots hold up to this?"
Our experience is that, provided you get the right fit, they are good for all of this. Cavallo are supporters of the BHS TREC Championships because their boots are considered to be...
Hi there,
Cavallo hoof boots are good for bridleways and stony tracks. The Simple boots are best for round hooves and Sport for more oval shaped ones.
You measure length from toe to buttress line (a width measurement is a useful check as well).
The horses adjust really quickly but in...
Hi there,
I use the boots and they are really easy to put on. When it comes to sizing they should have a bit of wiggle room, but if you can rotate them, they are too big. The gel pads that come with the boots are great for extra cushioning. The wraps may not be necessary, but can be good...
