How lovely :)
Sloe gin, my native being able to enjoy some time out un-muzzled (he's laminitic) after the last flush of grass, bright & sunnt hacks as the leaves & landscape begin to change, hot chocolate after said hacks and I rather enjoy my pony's winter coat - he's so fluffy and snuggable.
If there was a like button, I'd like this post.
I really think you need to try to address the rout cause of the problem instead of 'I need a short term fix'.
Whilst common place for us, a stable will go against most of the natural instincts.
Have you tried working with a good trainer...
I've gone from one extreme to the other! My old horse was a 16.3/17hh Sports Horse & my current boy is a 14hh native. I'm 5'6, so average height.
Funnily enough, my 14hh is harder to find tack & rugs and things to fit than my old boy.
I've had a lot of fun with both my boy's - I actually...
Is there such a view?! How odd, if so ...
The reason why full/part livery didnt work for me was that I was having to pay part/full livery costs, plus additional feed (as horse couldn't have the feed that was included), extra forage, extra bedding as he's quite dirty so the 'included' bedding...
Has anyone fed green lipped muscles for stiffness or arthritis and if so, do you think its helped?
I have to be careful what supplements I use as my horse did have a mild case of laminitis a few years back. I didn't realise how much weight he'd put on or how much sugar was in his feeds, I...
For me, it wasn't - I've gone back to assisted DIY & pay extra for services I need from the YO. I've got friends that swear by full livery though. Good luck :)
I use it as a good chance to practise Le Trec style/horse agility obstacles - as well as being good fun, you'll be amazed what you can find to go past/over/under/through in hand :D
That's interesting and far cheaper!
Two Stupid questions:
*Do you literally stand there holding a hot water bottle or do you attach it to something?
*Where abouts do you put the hot water bottle - where the saddle would go?
Thanks for the feed back! I am considering getting one (especially as they are so much cheaper than the Equissage, which I just can't justify) - but would like to know from people that have used them, before parting with my cash. It's interesting to hear you've not noticed a difference.
Congratulations!
I've got a native & worked 3-4 times a week in winter and has an almost- trace clip - he's usually naked in the field (but has 1 no fill or lightweight turn out rug) & has a waffle cooler & Thermatex for the stable. I know it's exciting - but I honestly wouldn't rush out to...
