Hey, so I keep my horses in wootton bassett area and I have never known horse flies so bad, I had to cut a ride short the other evening as my poor very sensitive TB was literally getting attcked, he was covered, he was clearly in pain too as he was holding his breath and shaking and when we got...
Just seeing him every day makes all the stresses of everyday life seem so distant, his smell, his cheeky nibbles at me, his excited little whinnies when dinners coming and his silly little quirks like spooking at a different colour patch of grass, just everything about him makes me super proud...
Im fully intending to be back in the saddle asap, only real consern is the stiches being so tight and tearing them, guess I'll leave it till the end of the week and see how it is, and have to very sneakily creep out while the other half isnt looking, if he had his way I'd be out for a bloody...
So yesturday I had an exploratory op to determine if i had endometriosis and why I was experinecing lots of discomfort, turns out its all IBS related and i need to start taking my diet a bit more seriously and eat properly by while I was under I was sterilised, (had my tubes clamped), was not...
A happy little post, Had my lad for nearly two months now and he is a dream horse. I have always been a bit anti ex race horse, not in general but just not for me, I have always been under the impression that they are nothing but trouble that will leave you with huge vet bills, broken bones from...
Interesting reading, thanks guys, my boss sent me a pic of my boy and his boy both led out snoozing in their big straw beds last night when he did evening checks, made me feel very content :)
I must say that I have always found that horses in a set routine are happier, all the comp yards I have worked on bring in all year round if they are in work, my lad was by the gate tonight as I left them out till 7 and he couldnt get in his comfy stable and dig into his haynet and feed quick...
Ours have 8 acres to wander about in, go out at 7.30 and I get them in about 6.30 (they have to be ridden every day but then go back out if its midday) however the flies are a huge issue so often they are by the gate waiting to come in for a break!! decisions decisions :)
yeh I was thinking maybe I could bring him in for his groom and dinner etc then pop him back out but at the mo our paddock still has a lake in the middle and is so boggy in places so its def too wet for his sensitive legs, saying that i could smother him in pig oil I spose. hummmmmm, wanders...
So I have a 17.1 TB that I like to bring in at night, I like to catch him in, spend time at night grooming him, checking him over and putting him to bed with his dinner, maybe it's the groom in me (out of FT work whilst raising my kiddies finding it very hard), I have to bring my bosses eventer...
Thank you guys, I sometimes feel bad that I have a new horse and that I should still be morning Ben but I don't want his death to be in vain, I've been a professional groom the majority of my working life and horses have always been a huge part of my life but I honestly felt like dropping it...
