i would ask people on your yard first. If your keeping the horse on the same yard then at least you can keep an eye on it. I would also get something drawn up in writing so if it does go pear shaped youve got something to back you up.

I use a magnetic rug on my old mare who has artheritis and it def does make a difference! They do work on drawing the blood flow to the affected area which is why you shouldnt put them on cuts etc they just generally improve blood circulation.

My old mare has catarachts in both her eyes but vet has told me they wont affect her in her lifetime as the are very slow developing in horses not as fast as humans. Perhaps insurance companies should look into this before deciding wether or not to insure you!

I have a 32 mare with cushings so lammy side effects. i give her more dengie lite than haylage (cant get hold of decent hay). Ive found the best way to keep condition is to feed little and often but i feed dengie lite spillers senior and just bog standard vegetable oil from tesco!

A horses natural eating habit is to eat off the floor. Im quite lucky my old mare mixes it in with her bed so she needs a net but she pulls it out and then eats it off the floor. Best of both worlds!!!

That sounds like a perfect yard!!! I pay 30 per wk includes unlimited hay straw hackings not brill but ok school waiting to be built for about 4 yrs now (not v happy about that) and thats diy but she will put them out or feed for you in a morning.
