Would you move your horse further away for better facilities?

I suppose I have never had the luxury of living near any yards so a 30min trip to the yard to me is nothing. I listen to podcasts or get my phone calls to family and friends done in that time and I don't see it pass.

Would you move your horse further away for better facilities?

If you're on full livery then 30 minutes is nothing. If on DIY I wouldn't want to be far away but if someone is doing everything for you then why worry? My yard is 30-40mins away and am on part livery, I still go up every day and have two to do after work.

    Bit rubbing corners of mouth.

Hi - I wrote a blog on this, hope it's OK to share here. http://www.insidetrackeventing.com/2016/06/12/healing-split-mouth/ In summation certain horses are more prone to this, loose rings are a big culprit, as well as happy mouths or rubber bits. I used Acavallo gel bit guards to prevent...

    Arc Equine - Bone Issues

Thanks Casey. I'm not a vet so can't say I know what osteogenesis is, can you explain? Sidebone is not actually bone, it is ossified cartilage, and develops as cartilage progressively ossifies. It can be fixed (not reversed, but the ossification can be stopped) with corrective shoeing, which it...

    Arc Equine - Bone Issues

Looking for any feedback from those who have used the Arc Equine, successfully or unsuccessfully, to help with bone issues in a horse. Specifically, the horse in question had bruising and a hairline fracture to the pedal (not yet re-MRId but he is sound on the straight so guessing it's healing)...

    Buying in Ireland - recommendations

Have you experience or bringing someone with experience? If so I would suggest going to the sales - Cavan or Goresbridge. Alternatively you could speak to Horse Viewings Ireland who will do the viewings for you.

Moving to Ireland and have a list of horsey questions!!!

If you are moving to work with Sam Watson surely he will help you source transport? You'll need a PPS no and will have to pay tax. For ease id recommend getting a bank account set up here. Permanent TSB don't charge fees if you're putting 1500 pcm into the account. If you can afford it I'd...

Seeking Advice: Bossy mare won't do her stretches

Stretches arent always the right choice for the start of a session, namely when you have a horse that can't focus for long enough to stretch or is that bit stiffer/weaker and can't stretch from the off. If she's not on the job there's no way you'll get productive stretching from her at the...

Partner not happy about horse costs

Until I got to this post I was in the "it's your money, and if he doesn't want to support you then tell him where to go" as I would do the same, but tbh reading this post I can see where your OH is coming from. If your hobby is stopping you from moving in with your partner and you're looking to...

    Sheath Cleaning

Looking for guidance or advice on cleaning my horses sheath. He is starting to get smegma residue on the inside of his legs, and seems uncomfortable (swishing tail and stamping hind legs) with no other reason why bar the heat. I can also see when he goes to the toilet that it does have some...
