    Heart Murmurs

I took my mare to do 34k at an Endurance ride. At the vetting she was discovered to have a Grade 3 diastolic murmur, she had a normal heart rate of 38. She had been working nicely in training including a good steady 10k on Wednesday. She showed no signs of a problem. Has anyone had any...

    Home Check for Rescue Centre

I had a home check about 3 weeks ago with Battersea, passed it and went to see a lovely little Cocker Spaniel. Have been several times and taken my other dogs with me. We all met her and they all got on well. She is very nervous and frightened. Today I got to stroke her and spent a while on my...

    A young Bitch

My young Springer bitch (9 months old) has been acting strange. Normally well behaved and always comes back has started to run and not come back. I have had bitches in the past and never had a problem. Could this behaviour be due to her coming into season for the first time.

    Shock collars, anyone used them?

I have used an E collar on the buzz and vibrate settings for deaf dogs. It helps them to know where I am. I have also used one on a dog that chased sheep. Never very high on the shock side though. Used for the proper reason and used correctly, they work well. They can save a dogs life. But...

    puppy and older dog

My puppies always sleep in the crate for the first few days then out into the kennels. They toilet train themselves. A crate can be useful for many things. I recently had a dog who had an operation on his ligament and had to be crated for a month. I had an older dog 15 years old and the...

    Puppy-RAW or not to RAW?

My 2 rescue Springer's came to me being fed RAW so they have stayed on RAW. When I got my 8 week old puppy she was fed on Kibbles so the day after I started her on Raw. She is now nearly 5 months and is thriving. They are all working dogs. I feed Natural Instinct. I will be getting 2 more...

Water in dog crate - any suggestions?

I have 2 of these attached to a tail guard in the back of my Land Rover. Bowls never spill and the catches keep the bowls in place. http://www.croftonline.co.uk/hook-on-non-spill-plastic-bowls-for-crate-or-pen-with-clip.html

    Dog Insurance

I always used NFU but when I got a second dog they wanted to charge me the same as my older dog. I left my old dog with the NFU as he was too old to move and also he had three ongoing claims. My cat had always been with Pet Plan so the second dog was put with them. I now have a third dog plus a...
