In full time due to the weather, numbers you could cope with?

Unfortunately 9. I am laid up following an op and can do nothing to help but fortunately my daughters have come home to look after me, so can take turns to help my 1 staff member. It's taking two people, 2 hours, 3 times a day to: muck out, check rugs and legs, hay, feed and water, give the...

Teenage wannabe looking for Apprenticeship in the UK

Little rude to post someone on another forum (presumably without their permission)

    Selling a project horse

So lower it on the ad She's a common cob pony, with very little real experience/schooling/work. She isn't worth over £1000, and I'd say even that's being overly generous!

    Selling a project horse

2 inches smaller, or taller and she'd be more salable, but that's rather beyond your abilities! IMO she's far too much money for hack; no show records, no real scope. See these horses, also in your area who have similar (or higher!) levels of scope/schooling, and are all under £1000...

    So which is it?

    Hand reared foals..

I almost had to hand rear a foal this year, he had a lot of problems and couldn't stand up to nurse often so the mare developed mastitis, even with regular hand milking. As it was, despite the colt being bucket fed (always bucket, never bottle!) the lovely more did not as we feared reject him...

    Farrier smacked my horse....

He was being a prat, throwing his weight around and could easily do a lot of damage. Imagine how much pain she would go through, plus loss of earnings and business if he'd caught her? I'm sorry but any horse risking kicking me in the face would be getting a smack and a shout (at the very least!)

    Another Foal..... More Opinions!

Don't like the stallion, like the foal even less. One has to question why a warmblood touted as being well regarded in germany, and having a reasonable performance record has such a low stud fee? Reasoning: no one seems to know what he is (some advertise him as a Danish warmblood, a sports...

    Chilling in the sun...

Babies are liking the sunshine here, but chilling isn't a strong suit (much to their mothers' disdain) Tara and Bunny Flirt and reflection gracie and nameless (maybe Pop)

    How are your yearlings doing?

gosh aren't they looking grown up already, AMW! Just wanted to update here a little, since it's not worth a thread (and maybe some of you could also share those little achievements here, keep each other updated?) The kids are back from their first off property show. Not a toe out of line...

How close is too close (Inbreeding.)

Unless a breed or particular gene is exceptionally rare, don't do it. My former stallion has one common ancestor (4th gen sire side, 5th gen dam side) because the cream gene in his breed is rare in quality stallions. At that distance I think it's okay, but you wouldn't do the nasty with a...

    Pony stallions?

I love Voyager, I don't think they have 'goods' in the UK but I know they've exported before. He is a german riding pony, Bundeschampion in dressage and eventing. I've seen him to haflingers and welsh x's before with very nice results. Alternatively, in the UK you have Brokat and Bathleyhills...

    How are your yearlings doing?

Pft, yours looks like a little sweetie (well, not so little any more!) The palomino is by my own TB stallion, out of a KWPN mare, Diva is dutch warmblood. They'll be staying in my ownership for a couple more years to be shown in hand, maybe do a year under saddle still owned by me too, before...

Would you post under your real name?

I think I'm slightly more anonymous on here than on US forums (which allow a lot more advertising so everyone has website links everywhere). Regardless, it's perfectly easy for the eagle-eyed -- especially anyone in the USA or Canada, or who follows breeding -- to work out who I am...
