    Vet records question

As the owner of a horse do you have the right to have your horses veterinary records? I'm considering changing vets and just wondered if i'd be able to get my horses records to give to new vets. One of the only reasons i'm staying with current vets is that they've known my difficult horse for 8...

How do you make sense of affiliated showjumping???

The BS website has quite clear rules on specific qualifying comps like for blue chip and scope. It depends on the level you are competing and the winnings of your horse. As a general rule qualifiers will be tougher than a normal class at the same height so you ideally want to be dropping down a...

    UKSJ forum on fb

I agree it's a good idea and there are some very good points being made i just feel that the good points are being over shadowed by pointless arguing and BS bashing at times. Alot of posts seem to end in an often unrelated bitchy comment fest. I don't know, maybe that's just humans for you but...

Well done :) you both look like you were enjoying yourselves.

    UKSJ forum on fb

Does anyone else look at the posts in that forum and question their future in showjumping? I thought it was quite interesting when it started but now it's just the same people arguing about the same thing, the amateur/pro debate mostly. I admit BS has issues but tbh i feel sorry for them now...

Where do you keep your phone

I tend to try and wear a coat or body warmer all summer so i can keep it there, not that hard in england actually. Hoody pockets are usually useless, have seen my poor phone go flying many times. If it is really hot and i'm hacking i will stuff it in jods pocket but i'm constantly aware that if...

GBO and I go SportJumping at Hand!

I was one of the sjers who walked the course, decided against jumping and spent the morning moaning in the cafe with the other angry sjers lol! In fairness if i'd had a horse that would have done it (an eventer) i thought it looked like it could have been fun. The 1m class was certainly very...

Wanted: Professional Schooling for show jumping, Devon / South West area

Justin is a very good rider, and trainer BUT the general consensus seems to be he wont ride "difficult" or "naughty" horses and i do have some personal experience to back that up. Maybe try a lesson with him and see what he suggests, I would have thought yours is a fairly common problem he's...

Devastated - Horse has damaged his tendon sheath. Prognosis / experiences?

My horse damaged his tendon sheath last april aged 16. We were told at the time he may never work again and the aim was to get him comfortable enough to be a field ornament. By the winter he was back competing 1.10/ 1.15 sj. Not sure if it's the same kind of injury but vets tend to be cautious...

    The Hanc EC...

Would be a real shame if it closed, it's one of the only places my horse jumps! I love the place but they're not very amateur friendly, smaller BS shows completely lack atmosphere, they only use half of the arena, don't bother putting the nice jumps out etc and the prize money has been rubbish...

    Voss goes to Jessica Kurten

I saw that horse with Andy alot in the novice classes and have always liked him. It's a shame for simon but it will be nice to see a British produced horse competing at top level competitions.

    Dodgy or genuine?

Very dodgy! Keep well away i'd say.

    Jumping help.....

I would come back to trot on corners but allow her to canter in related distances otherwise you'll confuse her unless you really have no control in which case is she really ready to be competing? It's not mean to trot the course anyway, better to have control and both finish happy and confident :)

How often do you jump at "different" or "new" venues

Have to say that sounds pretty standard for a SP course to me, i actively avoid her courses. Horses for courses eyy ;) (sorry, had to be done.) I don't tend to worry about different venues really. my older horse always acts like he's never been in the ring anyway until he starts jumping and...
