Ground is a bit hard but was less slippy cutting up a bit more today than compared to Friday, still excellent going though. Good luck those competing tomorrow, I am back there (again!!) fence judging.
Not too bad considering I've only ridden the horse about a dozen times this year! Good dressage 29.8 (bit generous imo), unfortunate pole SJ and a stop at the 2nd XC as it took her a little while to get going, she went very green on me.
I will do, think now the first event is done I'll be more...
Well done that's a really positive start to the season, can't see your SJ video though? I think I was with you in the warm up for everything, we were so lucky with the ground/weather I feel for everyone who was supposed to be competing today.
Good luck to everyone for the rest of the weekend! Went today, ground was pretty good considering, dressage warm up not great (they have split it into three rather than the one huge warm up, I think so there is a fresh section for each day which is a good idea) but arenas were fine. SJ also held...
I still remember my first test, aged 10 (i think) went something along the lines of:
A enter at trot down centre line, C track right and trot around to A
at A, exit arena, turn a 5 metre circle and kick pony back into arena carrying on like nothing has happened, and we did actually finish...
Me! Im doing the 80 too, section E. Course looks great, feeling a bit nervous as it isn't my horse im riding but we should be ok :) thankfully not too early for us, am looking forward to getting back into the eventing season though.
Hi Joolie,
Go for it, Sue is my regular instructor and get on really well with her (obviously!) most often i have a regular lesson but if I've got a comp coming up we might work on 'test riding' rather than generally schooling. It depends what you want whether its a general lesson or ways to...
To have a sound and happy horse!! With the amount we have been through in the past 18 months, we are lucky to still be here. If all goes ok, qualify for either Novice BD regionals/Petplan and start jumping again (off through injury) and for my friends horse i'm eventing for fun, be safe and...
This was very home made but I used one of those waterproof picnic blankets folded and weighed down with poles to simulate a ditch in a coffin combination, worked quite well!
Agree, don't jump before the horse! I think it's a horrible feeling being in front of the movement especially if the horse hesitates a bit, if I have a jump like that it quickly reminds me to wait!
Remember xc is not about being pretty but effective, look ahead and between the flags and not down...
Oh what a shame but good on you for not carrying on when she was sore, last thing you wanted was for her to have a bad experience. It now also explains why I didn't see you jumping as I kept my eye out for you. Best of luck for the hunter trial next week and onwards and upwards for next year!! :)
Its a friends horse who I've been lucky to compete, they were desperate to event but never got there. We've done 3 unaff events and this is our first BE.
Shrimp is still going (just, kept injuring himself) but now a dressage diva :D
