I've just caught up on this thread and to me, it reinforces that good sharers are really hard to find. I've been really lucky over the years to have several good ones. My current one is a star. I let her take Wiggy to camp last weekend (I'm out of action so he'd be in the field doing nothing if I hadn't) and I'm still munching my way through the copious amounts of crisps (we share a love of one particular brand and flavour of crisp!) chocolate and sweets she bought me as a thank you. Knowing her and how responsible she is and knowing Wiggy as I do, I have said her daughter can have a ride if she would like to - her daughter used to ride but her pony is now retired. She hasn't yet as she's a bit nervous but she's been up watching her mum ride and will feel ready to soon. I know my sharer won't let it happen if there's a risk of it going wrong and I trust her judgement as well as everything else about her.

OP it's admirable that you want to be that kind person who gave an under 18 sharer a chance but I think you might have more luck with an older sharer who at least understands the risks and responsibilities involved. We've all been guilty of doing stupid things when we're young but doing them with someone else's living, breathing sentient being is not on.
