He is just lovely and sounds a little sweetheart
My four year olds withers still haven’t caught up to his bum ?
he looks like he will be handy. If it’s any indication Faran was about 13hh at 8months and he’s 15.1hh roughly at the withers just now. His parents were barely 14hh (sire) and a 14.3hh (I think) ?
I feel like his neck as suddenly lengthened by about 6 inch's!
He came to us with the head of a shire, the neck of a small dog, the legs of a giraffe and the body of a tiny riding pony. He's no starting to look like 1 pony not an abstract imagine drawn by a child.
His mum is 13.2hh and built like a tank and dad was 15.3hh at 5yrs with still a lot of 'finishing' to do. so its anyone's guess where he'll end up. I'm praying he stays around 15hh as I'm only small. but he's 13.2 on the stick now at 14months so I think I'll be lucky if he does.
He is looking really good now, my mare whose mum was 15hands and dad 16 hands carried on growing till she was 6. She was 13.3 at 15 months and I was worried she wouldn’t be big enough for me but she made 16 hands at 6..and she had a good start in life so I would imagine reggie could grow quite a bit more..
His parents were both smaller so I reckon 15 .1 at 4.. mine was out of a Welsh cob by a TB/Trakehner ,so bigger breeds.. have you done the string test?
You'll be fine. Teach him to stand still and square next to a fence/ gate. Say "stand". If he moves, gently return to the required position, repeat the instruction until he is relaxed and doesn't move until you're aboard. Sit quietly for a few minutes. Praise, treat with scratches on withers. Move off calmly in walk. Do this until your verbal cue and your physical movements are inextricably paired in your horse's brain.NNNOOOOO!!! he can't make 16hh - there's no way I could get off and on that out hacking

I'm sure its going to be fine, but I'm naturally a worrier. Plus the vet started off basically telling me I'd inconvenienced her by calling and it wasn't worth her coming out (swelling the size of an orange and snotty mucsle discharge from an injury on/close to a joint) to telling me he could end up with cellulitis or ulcers or colitis and asking me if we should xray. Never met such an incompetant vet - I have complained.
