Walked somewhere i haven't been for a while today and there were two women with two XL bullies off lead and unmuzzled, even if they were the best behaved dogs in the world why would you risk it. This was a very busy track with a housing estate either side where I wouldn't have a dog off lead anyway, lots of children and dog walkers about.
Presumably you’ve reported them.

Mixed feelings on the importation of dogs with cropped ears. I am not at all for cropping, but I'd possibly adopt one from a shelter with cropped ears. If a dog needs a home, is a good fit, but has cropped ears, I won't hold it against the dog. Even though I would be sad to look at those ears everyday.

I mean, England will become a country of bans anyway, so why not.

I get what is being said though. Banning them all together makes things easier and would deter people from cropping in country.

I saw one up for adoption at a shelter recently with no ears.

I'd love to do unspeakable things to the person that did this. They'd be missing more than their ears!

No didn't cross my mind just walked as quick as I could away from them. No idea who they were or where they came from or who i'd report them to.
I wouldn’t have done either, nothing would happen. I suppose if you could lodge it online then maybe but imagine being on hold for an hour to say you’d seen someone walking a dog.

If the dogs werent doing anything wrong and seemed to be under control I see no reason to report them - Would you report every car that might be going over the limit for speeding, or report every horse you see being ridden on a footpath,?

seemed to be under control
But they were not under control according to the law. They were not on lead or muzzled.

Id report them, just as i’d report anyone using a mobile whilst driving or driving under the influence - they have control until they suddenly don’t and people may die as a consequence. So they get reported.

The issue about these dogs is that they seem to have a switch that flips over almost nothing taking them from "in control" to "out of control/attack mode" in seconds. Also how is any dog walked on a footpath/pavement under control perfectly enough? Mine are terriers and wouldn't bite anyone but they could run after a cat/bird/etc at any time. The dogs present a threat which is why they need to be on lead and muzzled in public.

These dogs terrify me. 0ne lunged at me and my dog, dragging its owner towards us
last year.
Believed to be a Cane Corso this time ☹️. Not my choice of breed, either - too ruddy big.

Two people bitten inside the shop, two outside.

A man, 51, and a woman, 44, have been arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place.

I think we need to increase the penalty for someone allowing a dog to harm a stranger in public to stronger penalties than those for asault with a deadly weapon. At least when you're holding a deadly weapon you have it completely under control. If you take a deadly weapon out in public and you do not have it under control, that seems a worse offence to me.

A few headlines with people ending up in prison for walking their dogs might focus a few minds that aren't being reached at the moment.

The frequency and hightened awareness of burglaries nationwide may also contribute to some people chosing a more intimidating dog as their next pet unfortunately. We are having a positive epidemic of thefts and burglaries in my area. To be fair, the police are stepping up their efforts to thwart and track the culprits here but I can see people becoming more fearful.

Why would you take one of those into a shop?

Honestly, some CC's weigh less than some of the obese Labs that are out there 🙄 mine weighs 75lbs, but still, that doesn't take away from the fact that a CC will have more strength, bite force, and a different disposition than a Lab.

I do take mine into shops and have since she was young age as part of her socialization/learning. I do not take either of my dogs (other is a Lab) into crowded shops, or ones that are tight/small, but believe it or not you can take a CC into a shop without sh*t hitting the fan, but as it turns out you have to train them and typically start at a very young age.

I absolutely think that there need to be stronger penalties or consequences.

In an ideal world I'd like some sort of system of licensing to own a dog over x psi bite force. I wouldn't be opposed to muzzles on more powerful types.

I need to find the info I stumbled across awhile ago. It might've been in Canada. It was about certain breeds, such as the CC only being allowed in certain places or without a muzzle after they passed some sort of temperament testing. That seemed interesting.

And on cue I saw my first kangal being walked in a town today. All 12.2hh of it. Didn’t take long!

We were ahead of the curve.

From Feb 2018 -

The hapless soul who rehomed the Anatolian Shepherd didn't have a clue. On the other hand I sometimes see a chap with Ovcharkas and I think in his case they are some sort of status symbol (not sure if that's the right term). Why would you want a fearless dog which is used for control in Russian prisons? Is there is something lacking in the person who feels they need this type of dog?

Just remembered, I have also seen a Turkish Kangal in the town.
