As well as their own cutbacks, police are unfortunately defacto social workers now because of cuts to budgets in agencies dealing with addiction, poverty and mental health issues. If tackling those three issues was properly funded, then the police would have more time to fight crime
This, the police now don’t respond to any crime that they consider minor, including dog attacks as long as no one is actually bitten.

Glad I'm not in the UK any more then, as though addiction, poverty and mental health issues need dealing with, it shouldn't be up to the police. If they can't do the job they're actually paid to do, which is fighting crime, then that's a total breakdown of society.

Yup, they are either totally jaded and fed up, or their hands are tied. Its not on the ground police that are the issue on the whole, although I have encountered some vile male officers, on the whole that hasn't been my experience though.

I wasn't sure if the lead had broken maybe, but that might just be me being generous.

In fairness to the woman, I think it is noted elsewhere that the D ring on the actual dog collar had snapped off and was dangling off the clip on the end of that stupid flexi lead. But how she thought a set up like that would hold a very chunky strong looking type of dog with that flimsy equipment is a mystery to me, it wouldn't hold a determined terrier in search of prey, let alone that dog. Stupidity is no excuse though for having a dog out of control, particularly in such a busy area.

This is the bloke filming her while she does a runner with the dog.
Looked very much an XL type or American Bulldog. Wonder what happened to the horse that it chased and how they caught the dog.

Looks like the school have taken down their fb page. Hardly surprising really, the teachers face can be clearly seen in some of the online footage and it's difficult to defend her behaviour.

I hope the dog is PTS as it is obviously out of control and driven, and I also hope she is sacked. Not for losing control of a dog, but for leaving the scene. The poor lad sounds shaken and disbelieving. In one of the videos, the lad is obviously injured. For someone to cause an accident, then leave the scene with an injured person, is not someone I would want teaching kids.

You can't even say it's because she was scared of him, as she could have got in the car and let the other man deal, if she was shocked.

Despicable behaviour.

Isn't it an offence to leave the scene of an accident? I know of someone who ran over a dog and killed it and that's what they were brought to court for.

ETA and failure to report.

I agree. When he was following her home she seemed more eager to hide her identity than anything. I would have been mortified, apologising profusely etc.

as I understood it there's XL, standard and pocket bullies but admit that's only what I've read online.
The 'standard bully' is what they're calling the classic type these days. No real meaning/breed standard though. It used to refer to an athletic pitbull looking type, shorter than the XL, but now I'm seeing classic/standard used to refer to oversized pocket bully types with excessive width and bulk.

Omg, that’s horrific to watch. Dog causes carnage there. 🙁 How the heck she just walks away I cannot fathom.
Sadly it's a mindset we have come across when dogs have got in with our sheep, it's a form of extreme defensiveness, at least she didn't blame the horses for being on the road, which I have heard of! Some people are so averse to being wrong, or in the wrong that, when called out, they become quite aggressive.
