Re. mumsnet, I am chuckling slightly that you think its about kids, penis beakers anyone? (I am aware that one will go entirely over your head Taishi but it might still be in their classics section, highly edited).

I am however going to return to my original question about soles, there are loads of dealer-type boots about (well done Red ;) ) but most would not be terribly safe to ride in and I'm not sure stated their purpose?

I haven't seen anything which would class as defamation for the purposes of the T+Cs, threatening PMs would definitely be covered though.

Threatening? That's really an immature way of looking at it, we're not in school you know. I was merely giving them a warning and requesting them to cease and desist else I would rightly report their behaviour since it was clearly breaking the T&C and not to mention causing me issues. If they honestly felt I was threatening them then that's really their problem and a bit over reacting if you ask me.

Also, I'd love to know where I'd actually been rude toward people regarding their suggestions, except that overly glossy one once I had lost my patience with people who were already getting testy with me, which funnily enough it didn't even concern them and was pretty uncalled for.

Taishi you can't give people warnings, that is threatening by definition whether you think it over reacting (the irony!) or not.

To be honest alot of footwear aren't "terribly safe" to ride in really, I still wish to know the principle behind those overly slippery soles they make for some of our so-called riding boots that merely causes one to slip out of the stirrup so easily. I mean its great if you wanted to break free, though highly unlikely as you will most likely get your foot caught anyway if there was a real accident, which could also be caused due to slipping, but other than that I honestly don't see how these make riding safe. Perhaps we should start a new thing and go barefoot like most of us are transcending our horses to do :-P

I use the Dickies type Chelsea work boot at work, and they are reasonably comfortable, but I certainly wouldn't be putting my foot in any stirrups with them on - they're too wide, the sole has too deep a tread and they would be pretty hard on the ankles if you kept your feet in riding position for any length of time.

I am within my right to request someone to stop the negative trauma they are causing toward and around me, even on here.

You are, but that doesn't consitute 'giving them a warning'. That constitutes asking them, two very different things.

Lots of footwear is terribly safe for riding in, I have about 6 pairs, my feet don't slip out the stirrups with any of them on. Sorry for trying to help you avoid a nasty accident.

That actually made me laugh, good one.. It's a term people use, which I'm surprise you're not even familiar with, to describe people that are too close to each other friendship or other wise, another common term would be to say that one is so far up the other one's ass but this is an easier way of saying it. It is also sexual reference (possibly homo?) in regards to suggesting intimacy among people being this close.

I asked them with the "threat" to say if they ignore my request then I will obviously take matters further, which normally works as most people with common sense wouldn't proceed and test the person who made such a statement, obviously some people wish to push their luck and seem to think they can just get away with it.
 
I am irrevocably reminded of that John Cleese sketch where he gets so frustrated that he beats his car with a branch.... good job we are all out of reach really :)
