Bog in good spirits today! First day without pain relief so I’m happy to see that.

Spoke to my UK vet which was very comforting. He said to stay the course.. he’s seen horses come back fully from this and of course it’s Boggle.

What a picture :)

That is really encouraging of your UK vet, especially as he knows Boggle. Did he venture a guess at a cause?

Spoke too soon guys.. Bog subtly not quite himself this eve. Very loose stools too. Vet on way for a night call out I don’t want to take any chances giving him pain meds incase it’s masking anything.

Sigh 😞

Oh bless him, what a rollercoaster !! Like SEL said .... He's had a lot going on in that gut...

Nice of you to keep funding the vets though 😉 you must be entitled to some shares by now 🙈

Thanks guys he’s totally fine, his poo is very loose though. It’s been loose since he’s been home because of all the drugs but this is worse so I’ll talk to vet again in morning (well proper morning- 1am atm).

Urgh this is a damn tiring in every way. I have to go to New Mexico next week and I’ve managed to get a 10pm evening flight there and 1pm the next day flight back but it’s still worrying to have to leave him in general.

Glad he’s perky and appreciated me driving the third 50 min round trip to him of the day so he could tell me how annoyed he was that he has no food 🤣

Wish they could play chess or do a jigsaw when they are not working - their minds seem to delight in finding ways to wind you up (and the vet bills!).

Is he on any gut supplement to help him cope with all the drugs - sorry can't remember with the long list you published - not just ulcer protection but a probiotic type of supplement?

The vets restarted another six month payment plan with what was left of the last one so it doesn’t feel like extra money tbh, when it’s so much anyway.

Have it all Bog, and my soul too 🤣
I feel so blessed sometimes. I have a 30 year old horse with Cushings and arthritis and the only vet visits he has is his annual check. Meds cost me a fortune though!

Poor you - again!

Do you think that Boggle knows when you are about to go away on a trip and then purposely gets sick to stop you? Because it does seem to happen every time you post about travelling. Have you checked to make sure he doesn't have a tablet and a HHO account and is secretly cyber stalking you...? ;)

Hope this current thing is just due to all the drugs in his system.

I’d totally understand if it was a holiday but the trip next week is work and he would do well to remember it’s that which pays his bills 🙈

You need to have a serious talking to Mr Boggle! I really don't know how you're remaining sane with all you've been through with him recently. Sending big hugs and positive vibes to both of you.

Honestly I’m not, my entire body is in a constant state of stress and anxiety. The ONLY reason I haven’t crawled under a duvet and not come out is because of how dependent he is on me right now.

I would love nothing more than to drop him at the rehab yard and be on a plane outta here! But I would never, of course. Did that last time albiet he was in iso in hospital and I bitterly regretted it.

You said earlier that the Bog had been loose in his faeces since being home due to the meds - paraphrasing here. However, was he not on the same meds at the vets and if so were his stools better formed there before release ? If so, what are the other variables- the forage you feed, the water? Stress from adjacent stabled horses? Just throwing out ideas.

I feel the same. I would happily drop my horse at the vets and pick him up in 3 months time, hopefully fixed. Today he made another attempt at killing himself. I think I have run out of stress as I literally couldn't get my body to react and do anything. I do regularly dis associate anyway so presuming it is that.

Hey I’m so sorry to hear that :( that happened to me on day one of Bog going back into hospital. It was the weirdest thing, like I could feel nothing.

It didn’t hit home until the next day when the vet rang me to say how deeply worried she was.

I’m so sorry you are going through horse heartache, I hope it gets better for you soon 💕

It’s very likely to be the impact of longer term use of meds. Gut support will hopefully help. I own a rehab horse - injury as opposed to illness but have done the long term box resting, field paddocks, slow bring back into work and that took its toll on me so can imagine what you are going through is incredibly tough.

It’s a lot. Work is exploding with travel soon. Last night something came in that means I need to go to Washington for two days too. I am moving him on Monday post vet check which is also a lot, then I was meant to be moving out of my house mid December (to go to Australia for three weeks then move closer into Denver when back).

It’s all feeling pretty overwhelming right now- the next 7 weeks I’m meant to be away for a total of 3 of them. Really praying this barn works for Boggle and things settle down.

Wow things can change in an hour! My friend whose horse I’ve been riding all summer messaged me to ask if I’d like to house sit and bring Bog if I wanted (wouldn’t work because of travel) whilst they are in Az Jan- April!

So that’s awesome because it’ll give me some relief on rent to pay Boggles latest bill (or- put towards importing another Connemara…. DONT LET ME!!!!!) 😊 and mean I can take my time finding an apartment etc and not have to rush around in the NY. And I’ll only be 15 min from Bog.

Thought you may like this video of the wildlife here! Well first bit just made me laugh- I have no idea what Bog wanted from me as he had everything he needed but clearly I did something wrong this morning.

Deer, wild turkeys, elk (not in video). All pretty tame. And Pepper practicing her gundog steadiness training, glad to see it’s still there!
