Argh my friend who runs the boat operations (and isn’t on this trip) failed to mentioned until now that this particular sailing has been chartered by an entire group of Germans from a dive club. Nothing against Germans obviously but ten days at sea with (likely older/dive club type thing) people that speak a totally different language feels kinda exhausting.
Or actually, maybe it’s blissful… lonely or blissful.

I bet that they speak some English, or at least some of them will. Germans love to say that they, "speak a little bit" of English but will then go on to speak rather fluently
Of course not all speak English, but your odds are probably decent. I know an older German man that goes on dive trips, I'd die if he were in that group with you

I hope so! I’m not exactly shy but I do felt a little out of sorts at the idea of just not understanding anyone around me 
I could re route to Mexico and go stay/dive with my friends there but I can do that any time on a long weekend and a liveaboard is more of a disconnect from the real world.
Guess I can read lots of books!

Ha! I’m a bit sad as thought my friend would be able to be on the same trip.
Omg, first world problems, this trip would be 5,000 USD if I was paying for it so time to get a grip.
Honestly pathetic I’ve travelled the world solo and I’m baulking at the idea of spending 10 days with people that speak a different language

Thanks everyone!! Work is CRAZY busy right now, I'm absolutely not complaining because it's great and it means $$$ but I don't think I'll get away with completely switching off. Still, it's worked in my favor as for a 10 day boat trip/12 day travel I'm only using 4 days of PTO due to thanksgiving and working half days, so all good.
Also managed to organise someone to do some Bog rehab, just carrot stretches, poles, backing up etc but means he's not just sitting while I'm gone

As well as pig-threatening, I hope you told him before you left that the wrath of the whole HHO would be on his case if he messed up this time!!
I'm sure you will be fine on the trip and it's probably just a sign of your exhaustion that you are feeling a bit anxious about the company. It may make you smile to know that, in my RAF days, I served with a German exchange officer whose English was not only perfect but when we held a Burns Night dinner in the mess, he gave the address to the Lassies that brought the house down!!
At least you will have the diving activity to focus on and you are not just sitting around trying to make polite conversation.

Arrive in FL early this am to rain like I’ve never seen rain. Briefly consider re routing to Mexico as Bahamas weather not dissimilar but tbh I need to be on a liveaboard so I can work easily between dives etc. Had a fun 30 mins stood not checking my bag because I couldn’t decide though.
The boat is going back to USA for maintenance so I didn’t book a flight out of Bahamas, as I’ll enter usa with the crew on boat once the guests have left.
Would they let me board their plane without proof of onward journey out of the Bahamas? Hell no.
Had I left it to the absolute last minute to check in? Of course. Queue frantically trying to sort a flight/proof of leaving the country.
I’m also the only person in the airport wearing a very beachy summer dress in the hope the rain will stop- a true British habit
Am now drinking a punchy margarita and Boggle is not at the forefront of my mind whatsoever!
Thank you everyone for the kick I needed to go, the weather forecast may be miserable but I can’t wait to be back underwater!

You are very right! It’s horrid how horse anxiety can manifest in other ways. I was so upset yesterday at how upset I was, I’ve never been an anxious person and suddenly small things are causing me a huge issue and I’m not reacting in the way I usually would. Like a horse in a constant state of stress. I really hope this trip resets my “personality” as at the moment I am very much not myself and it’s a horrid feeling. I’ve never truly understood anxiety until now.

My daughter is in Florida at the moment and she has horrendous rain as well. But she says it's still warm. I'm sure you'll enjoy it anyway

I used to be decisive, now I'm not so sure...
This is where I have been since mum was ill. So stressed, I lost myself. Hence selling posh horse and buying Rigsby.
Of course, my husband then dying suddenly this year has made me feel rubbish again, just when I'd got back on top.
I can say that it does lift. Or, at least that it can do!
