So pleased it's going in the right direction his obviously feeling more like his old self not wanting the back boots on bless him 😂

My Louis can't abide boots on his hind legs his face is a picture of completely fury while he tries to kick them off.

Haha I know, it’s a stress think. Coffee and cigarettes is a great combo though!

It could be worse....someone I knew years ago would have an absinthe chaser with his morning coffee and cigarettes - Gitanes, of course! Needless to say, he is now dead, although he did amazingly make his three score and ten.

Pleased to hear that the cause of your stress seems to be perking up! Long may that continue.

Yay! Keep going in that direction Boggle :) :) Can't like a ciggie for breakfast but yeah, stress eh? And it could be worse I guess lol!! Glad you feel a bit more positive too @Michen; that is so good to hear. Perhaps the vets will have enough info to hit whatever it is with the right anti-bios tomorrow but it seems that Boggle is doing his very, very best without that. Keep going. x

Ok! Bog has pooed! Yay!

The specialist vet just called me and she's really pleased with how he's looking. Apparently they took his boots off to give him a break and put fresh shavings in to which he immediately rolled repeatedly and seemed very pleased with himself.

She thinks his cough is a little better too and his fever although it's still there it's lower (100.8). They are going to start trying to wean him off the banamine. Because his white cell count is back to normal they are far less worried about toxic laminitis so they are dialing down the antitoxins too.

I asked her what her general thoughts are on whether he will get through this and she said she worries far more about the horses with an (understandable) financial limitation to the treatment, and that she's optimistic and hopeful that no "surprises" will come back on the culture (and isn't expecting them too).

She suggested a hay steamer so I'm off to order one of them- what's another $1,000 :D

Yay!!

I did think when you posted about the $$$ bill that it's a horrible situation. With surgery there's a yes/no decision and likely costs but poor Bog it's lengthy "it'll take what it takes" to get him well. Tough for owners and the vet if that's not financially viable. Bog is a very, very loved horse and I'm relieved he's on the mend
