You are all completely right I know! I don’t know why I didn’t expect it. In a few days I’ll be sad about the loss of a very affectionate Bog and he will be back to bossing me around I am sure.

6.42am I was going to be good and sit on my hands all day to wait for the vet to tell me when he can leave but as soon as it hits 8 I’m finding out when he can leave 🤣

I think they're comparing him with other horses they see with the same pathologies, so are thinking - he's looking so bright and doing so well.

Whereas you're comparing him with normal Bog and thinking - he seems so poor and sad and depressed.

Yes and I think that’s it and it’s confused them all along because he perked up way before he technically should have. And I guess when I last saw him it was the difference between him being very sick to perky whereas now it’s been a while since he’s been truly down.

I don't suppose we would be looking at our sparkling best after being horribly ill and confined to barracks for a couple of weeks. He's probably looking at you and thinking you don't look that great with your cold and all the worry.;);)

Time for some home time and a convalescence of fresh air and tlc.

He’d be right there too 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It is but kind of nerve wracking? I feel like I don’t know him anymore or what he needs it’s so weird!! Like I’m taking a really sick patient out of hospital that needs specialist care. Weird.

Think I’ll be sleeping in his stable tonight 🙈

He says about bloody time! Photos to follow when I get him back. The cultures returned no anerobic bacteria but very bad other bacteria, she said it was incredibly severe and resistant.

We aren’t changing the antibiotics yet because he’s doing well on them but we can if needed.

They led him out to the car park and laying eyes on him was just the best thing I’ve ever fricking seen, his quivery little nostrils.

I think he is lucky to be alive.

I am lucky he’s alive. Now to cry all the way back to the barn!

I didn’t get to bring Basil home from hospital 7 years ago so I don’t take this for granted. I am sat in Boggles stable with a glass of champagne courtesy of my amazing barn friends. Boggles demeanor changed instantly the moment he stepped off the trailer. He’s had a roll or ten, he’s tucking into his hay and he’s drunk water. And he looks relieved.

I have never I don’t think taken Boggle for granted so I don’t know how I can possibly love him more but I do, he is one in a million.

I am so unbelievably grateful to you all on here. It has been the ultimate comfort to be able to post every fear, worry, sadness and stress and you’ve all been so quick to comfort and share knowledge, support and just generally be amazing human beings. This whole thing would have been infinitely worse without you.

I will keep posting with his progress and photos but just wanted to share these and express my huge gratitude to you.

Gen and Boggle xx

And now to get on with his recovery. So relieved for you. So it was some nasty bacterial lung infection? I assume it’ll be impossible to work out where he picked it up and it’s just one of those things?! So glad he’s on the mend ❤️‍🩹

Only Bog could have a vet visit within 2 hours of returning home. Luckily the vet was here anyway! He started doing this weird head craning/twitch thing that he did when he coliced.

Anyway his vitals are all good and he’s tucking into his hay and the consensus was… he was annoyed about the flies.

Has now been fly sprayed.

BOGGLE PLEASE STOP 🤣🤣

It actually made me a bit emotional seeing his welcome home sign and his happy little face over the door.

I am so incredibly thrilled for you.
