Knew he’d perk up when he got home. Horses have no concept of tomorrow so he probably thought that was it, he was living at hospital from now on 😅 It’s no wonder he was a bit down in the dumps!

You would never know he was sick! Love that damn horse for his ridiculous plucky spirit. I’m just overjoyed that him being happy in a field doesn’t seem to be something I’ll need to worry about.

His attitude makes him look a million dollars even when he’s a hat rack 🤣

And now to get on with his recovery. So relieved for you. So it was some nasty bacterial lung infection? I assume it’ll be impossible to work out where he picked it up and it’s just one of those things?! So glad he’s on the mend ❤️‍🩹

Pneumonia yes, two bacteria involved. How he got it is anyone’s guess. Possible choked in the night, possible a complication from a GI virus that didn’t show up, who knows.

Yay! So happy for you and him! I'm slightly jealous of your barnmates too! They seem great and quite supportive.

Best wishes for a smooth recovery from here.

They are amazing! The barn itself has been wonderful too. But so has everyone here, both horsey and non horsey friends. I came back to a card and a voucher for a massage and I am really looking forward to using that 😆

When I opened this thread to read your update, for some reason it opened on your #1 post, from Oct '22.

What a thread it is, from your relocation to the USA, followed by the lovely Boggle, then Pepper, and more recently Boggle's illness and stay in the clinic.

I'm so pleased to see the photos of him safely back in his stable, you must be so relieved. I hope his recuperation goes well and he makes a full recovery.

I thought that yesterday when I accidentally clicked on the first page. It made me a little sad, this is not how I envisaged our American adventures.

But.. we’ve already had some epic ones. And I really hope we get to have a few more. And as hard as this has all been, and as much as I weirdly “hated” America when this first happened as if it was somehow the countries fault I had a sick horse, I feel even more at home here than I did a few weeks ago. I didn’t quite appreciate just how great a crew here Bog and I have already until now. It feels like everyone has put a huge arm around our shoulders.

As the people on the dive boat labeled me- I’m a Britorado now 🤣

Yessss! The bounce-back is real!

I didn't recognise my mare when I first saw her, she was so pinched. Like I said, she was almost back to normal facial expression once journeyed home!

You were right! I even got an annoyed ear pin from Boggle when I didn’t present him with food when expected. A delighted laugh from me was not quite the reaction he was hoping for 🤣

He has his trimmer coming this morning, those glue ons have been on since mid may now so they need to come off and his feet need some TLC!

Thank you!! Just once a day? I’ll go to whole foods ;)

Once or twice a day - antibiotics do so much disruption to the gut biome that any support is a bonus.

Alos, bark thins and their all the cheese pizza are amazing (if the selection is the same in Colrado!). And the cold bred coffee. Oh god, now I'm going to have make an iced coffee :D

Awesome thanks.

Ha, I’ll have a look. Though I don’t need feeding up at the moment like Bog that’s for sure 🤣

Trader Joes and Whole Paycheck/Foods were my weaknesses ;)

Wholepaycheck ha! I’ll be laying off their hot salad bar for the foreseeable that’s for sure. I am more of a sprouts kinda gal.. their pistachio muffins 🎉🎉🎉

Haven’t yet made it to a Trader Joe’s as there isn’t one that near me but I need to get to one!

No Sprouts out east that I found, although we did have an Erewhon equivalent which sold things like turmeric, cardamon and bee pollen oat lattes to go while you shopped! Price of groceries = 1 kidney.

I love and miss Whole Foods!

You can certainly use the yogurt and honey, but (and this was ages ago) I used Probios and it wasn't expensive. It was a power, I think, but also comes in treat form.
