He looks amazing! What a character to fight through all that and come about looking a million dollars. Bad comment alert, but probably about what it is going to cost you ☹️, but then just look at him with his shiny coat!

Haha the final bill landed at $32.5k. Plus hay steamer 2k plus follow up bloods and scans I think another 2k over the next few months. So 36.5k ish!

And to think I was a bit stressed when it was 20 🤣 sadly he ended up there extra time as he just didn’t respond to the antibiotics as we hoped and went downhill again.

Getting him here plus various other vet bills, plus this means Boggle has cost me about $56,000 (not including board/general expenses which I budget $2,000 a month for), in about 9 months. Most expensive Connemara ever!!!

The bill doesn’t take away from the delight that he lives, and how he’s looking now :)

I think I'd calculate in in £. It doesn't sound quite so bad when it starts with a 2!

And there's me feeling guilty that I'm spending £10k of our money on surgery for my slipped disc. I wouldn't think twice if it was for the horses!

Good point!

And no don’t feel bad, that’s a bargain!

I’m still getting a lump in my throat every time I come around the corner to see Bogs head over the stable door, he really is worth everything. Well, he’s had everything 🤣 I’m sure it could seem crazy to have spent that on a horse that’s worth nothing on paper but I’d take him over a 100k competition horse any day. I’ll never find another like him.

Is that not the happiest, cutest little face in the world 🥰 he has also been cantering around without coughing.. just one in the hour I was watching him.

Scan on Friday and hopefully a better picture about his long term future ridden or not.

I so share your joy in having a ‘death row’ pony back to being happy. BBP has been on the red bull this morning and spent 10minutes playing ‘who is better at acrobatics’ vs the baby Connemara this morning. (Unlike Boggle he is ridiculously fat though, thanks to me doing the ‘you’re about to be put to sleep so you can have all the grass you want’ diet, highly irresponsible I know but I was so convinced he had weeks left. He is now on a diet!)34F75A60-824E-479B-B295-CAD1B8D0961E.jpeg2F9CEACC-1EEE-4F33-BF92-EB9982D6A40B.jpegFCAF8F94-5228-49F2-B208-2D2AD6BBE6AD.jpg

Ok so we are off to the vets tomorrow now as they couldn't do friday. And I'm getting his neck x rayed at the same time (it's been cracking ever since we had a fall back in the winter, and whilst there are no other signs of an issue I just NEED to know if there's something going on there- it's so weird that it will crack when he turns his head then do it again straight away).

I was on the fence about the neck x rays a month ago, but what's another few hundred quid at this point :D

I can never work out when your "tomorrow" is Michen - I've not sorted time differences and it's too early in the UK fur my brain to compute. Good luck for the neck scans and everything else. He looks fantastic and not at all like he's just out of hospital

@BBP also looking fabulous!

I think that's very wise M. There's no point going through a load of plans and work to get him back ridden if he's got something going on in his neck that's going to limit his ability to do that.

I'm a big fan of x raying necks since having a horse who was born with a deformity which went critical at 10, and a TB who was fine until hot weather arrived when it was clear his neck was riddled with arthritis.

Hopefully you'll find it's as harmless as cracking knuckles, but very wise to check.

I believe it will be something harmless but totally agree with finding out as you have a lit riding on Boggle.

I bet they won't believe how well he looks when he offloads!

Also, prepare for him to be totally fed up when you deliver him back to the prison, and I bet he will be relieved when you take him home again!!!
