I used to “buy things”, for 9 and 10 figure contracts. It’s very unprofessional that the buying company is treating you like that but, as you say, it’s the nature of the game. My brother was in sales and used to tell me similar stories so I, on the other side of the fence, always made a point of having a full debrief with the losing bidders within a day or two of awarding the contract. I never ghosted anyone, that is just bad manners and a lack of respect for the amount of effort put in by the bidders. And..you never know when you might need that company again or where one of the sales team might pop up next. Bad behaviour and not something you, or anyone, needs. Go give big orange a cuddle.

Atlas got his health certificate needed to travel across state borders and we should be on the road next weekend!

I’m a little nervous as the travel can cause relapse but my friend said he should be fine with the appropriate treatment that he’s on plus gastroguard.

I feel very lucky to still have this little chap in my life. Been spending lots of time with him this week and he’s just a damn cute thing!

He looks like a chestnut Boggle here.

I would be tempted to leave him where he is. He's only just recovering from a serious illness and settling into a new place.

Are you driving him back yourself? Good luck, I hope the trip goes as smoothly as last time.

I’m taking advice from the vet who saved his life and deals with these cases, but thank you. She feels this is as safe a time for him to travel as any, and more safe whilst he’s on the full treatment drug rather than the maintenance drug that he will switch to in a few weeks time.

He has to move at some point. And he’s definitely not just recovering, you’d have never known anything ever happened for nearly 6 weeks now, 7 by the time he moves.

The risk of transporting him will be one for the rest of his life/anything stressful. It’ll always need careful management. That’s why I intend to keep him on all the maintenance stuff forever.

Not quite by myself this time ;) thank you!! I’m excited to get him back. He’s looking rather too round as he has constant access to hay in his current set up, so some soaked hay and potentially a grazing muzzle awaits him in Colorado.

safe travels! Be good to have company this time to keep you calm and I’m sure he will enjoy the trip too. Atlas will be fine for the whole thing!

Yeah! And thank you! I didn’t expect to go to Tucson and come back to Colorado with a boy in tow, haha. Hopefully he likes the life, the barn/self care set up might be a bit of a shock with how much work they really entail!

Meanwhile I’m sat up at 4am eating brownies and watching Pepper carefully because she got her paws on a whole cooked chicken carcass and ate it 🤦‍♀️

Spaniels eh. My Black cocker Dora demolished the leg of lamb defrosting on sink , that was last Sunday morning. But it was raw, so not such a worry. She had a big belly for days. And lots of 💩💩💩. Glad ginger boy is looking so well for you.

Oh goodness, and to have eaten your sunday dinner plan as well! yes this was cooked.. the whole carcass. It's so unlike her but the door must have been open to the bin and she went in and fished it out. She seems fine but.. urgh.

Not sure whether to run her to the vets in the AM or they will just say do what you are doing and monitor.

I’d probably give them a call, likely they will just say monitor but might give you more clues what to look for if any of the bones have splintered.

He's beautiful, M. I'm so glad things are finally seeming more positive for you. Safe journey back to Colorado. Will Atlas be going back to the same barn and field as he was in before? Any chances of Helo coming back for company? 🙏

Have you heard anything about Dusty recently? I wonder how he's getting on.

Helo is indeed coming back! It will be great to have them together again. The owners of the barn (who live in CA but come back fairly regularly) are so excited, the kids adore the horses and the eldest spent every second with Boggle when she was there. I can't remember if I posted on here but when I had Bog PTS, I had his last front shoes removed and gave her one of them. I'm pretty sure it's been under her pillow ever since.

It was hard for a 9 year old to deal with, Boggle was her first horsey love, but Atlas of course quickly won her over too so I'm hoping he gives her lots of happy memories this summer hanging out together in the way her and Boggle used to.

Dusty is still at the rescue, I speak with them fairly regularly and my friend is his vet, he is well taken care of and has a home for life though I guess they always hope to rehome as companions, but TB's are not very sought after companions here!

Honestly I'd have loved to have Dusty back but my set up just didn't suit him even aside from the fact he wouldn't stay sound in work, for whatever reason he just wouldn't sleep at my barn. Maybe too many "mountain" animals etc and not a busy enough environment for him to feel secure.

A few more Atlas photos, like Bog he hates the hose/water on his body but likes it on his nose!

He looks very different to the weedy little thing from autumn. I’m taking the kitchen scissors to his mane this weekend and then I’ll make sure no photos for a while cos you’ll all be upset with me at the outcome 🤣

That's so lovely to hear! I wonder how Helo and Atlas will be when they see each other again! 🥰

How sweet that the girl has kept Bog's shoe like that, that's so heartwarming. I bet she will absolutely love to see everyone again.

I'm glad that Dusty is still doing well, he was a sweet boy too. I'm so glad that everything is coming back together for you all.

He's lovely, has such a cheeky look to him. I definitely agree with the mane, love it when it's neat and trimmed with a nice straight cut tidy tail! 😍

Thank you! Well, for now... I got a little break but I'm sure something else unpleasant will come my way soon haha. Just have to enjoy the quiet/happy moments whilst they are here.

It'll be so cute to see Helo and Atlas reunited.

I'm excited for you. Stay positive 😆 things should hopefully settle and you can start to build on the foundations now instead of repair! If that makes sense, it makes sense to me 😂
Can't wait for the Helo and Atlas reunion!

Heart warming updates 😍 does boy in tow realise his training will start. I say this as someone who has completely failed to try a husband... So far.

I’m a little miffed because Beaus owner let him ride her very expensive event horse and it turns out he is extremely competent up there, having only ridden regularly for a year 20 years ago. I mean really sits on a horse beautifully and in total balance.

Also because I am basically a third wheel to him and Pepper who are joined at the hip. Pretty sure he’s coming to Colorado for her really ;)

Least I have Atlas I guess 🤣

I'm very much third to the cat and I have a mare who begrudges my existence 😅 I need a gelding I think.

Isn't it annoying when men manage to do that, I introduced my husband to climbing... Instantly better than me. I have no doubt if he was so interested he'd be perfectly balanced on a horse but he's a city boy and hates mud (and doesn't really read horses well enough not to get stepped on) .

It's a long standing joke that my BIL married my sister for her dog. At least that way everyone gets on.
