Gloi
Too little time, too much to read.
Mine too. And leg barring and faint barring at the withers.
Yes he’s grulla, has had several dun offspring to solid mares. Was he dun though? He looks smoky black.(Black plus creme)
There is a Welsh silver and dun group on Facebook with some interesting ponies.
Mine is also buckskin and going to grey out flea bittenMy connie came to me at 4 already grey but I have a feeling he was buckskin (and possibly with nd1 after reading this thread? he certainly had what looked like a dorsal stripe for a while) before greying out.
He went through some very lovely colours from dark dapple grey to rose grey and now getting more flea-bitten every year
Is it expensive to have them tested? would be purely for my own curiosity...
4 years old (let’s ignore my questionable techniques with the baby pony… teenage naivety at its finest for you!)

My daughter has one of his offspring, a red dun.Yes he’s grulla, has had several dun offspring to solid mares.
This dude has popped up with a new owner and my search showed me this thread. I think the winter coat pics show the dilution better, he’s not very stripy for a dun.Was he dun though? He looks smoky black.(Black plus creme)

We always called this pony Dun back in the 80's but maybe he would be buckskin nowadays. Pretty sure he was Welsh
There's silver in section As I believeLooking back at post 68, wondered if there was silver dapple in there too.
There is, and in the B. Someone on Facebook had a group a few years back where they were attempting to track down all living silver carriers in the breed and it was quite a list. There's silver in section As I believe
Can you link the group please? There is, and in the B. Someone on Facebook had a group a few years back where they were attempting to track down all living silver carriers in the breed and it was quite a list.
I can’t find the silver group now, possibly defunct? It was pre Covid times. Can you link the group please?
Found thank you very muchI can’t find the silver group now, possibly defunct? It was pre Covid times.
But this group is a good all round Welsh colours group, there’s some fascinating chats on there.
It’s called Colour Genetics in Welsh ponies and cobs, and it’s a private group so a direct link may not work. But easy to search for.

Very pretty
Oh he’s gorgeous!
Very lovely buckskin. My first ever pony, a Welsh b, was golden dun. Deffo a thing. 1987. Princess.
Interesting - do you have genetics testing on yours? Is it definitely the same gene causing the effect?Hi everyone just to add to the thread there are definitely true duns in Welsh breeds there is a Colour Genetics in Welsh ponies and cob FB group where there are lots of photos. Bryncerdin Merlyn is the black dun Sec C stallion people have posted about, his dam is a red dun and her dam was and her dam going back to a Sec A mare. All duns originate in sec A but there are Sec B,C and D however very very few of them. I own 8 duns including a red dun stallion. In 1983 when I was much younger lol I took these photographs of this gorgeous stallion Maescwm Trumpeter red dun, the gene has been around since the beginning of the stud and is ancient, bay dun is the original colour of all horses so it would be nice to preserve it in the Welsh breeds.
