Where is the horse now and who are they with?
.
Just go to the search window for the forum, up top, and put in Alicia Dickinson and/or Fielmich.

The mare Gretchen was sent to UK from Australia, by Alicia's ex business partner Natasha Althoff, for use in AD's riding school -- set up to attract 'high net worth individuals', willing to pay $720.00 per lesson.

Old YouTube videos of 'Your Riding Success' run by Althoff include several of Gretchen, all of which are extremely disturbing, as are these two individuals.

It seems that false narratives about what money can and can’t buy in horse sport is causing a lot of problems.

The paradox is that those who are producing (breeding/ schooling) horses need to maintain the narrative that you can ‘buy success’ to be able to fund our business/ sport/ competition.

Sometimes this comes back to bite us when ‘high net worth individuals’ have unrealistic expectations, pay the likes of charlotte £000 for a lesson and expect to come out an Olympic Medal Winner.

This just makes such depressing reading 😢 Just keep your head in the sand and all the silly people who don't know what they are talking about will go away, seems to be their advice 😢

Such a disappointing read, I almost can't believe the words I'm reading.

Imagine what was said in the actual hidden meeting if that's the best they can come up with..

Feel so frustrated after that, surely they can't think people are that stupid? We have all heard/seen SO many instances of abuse now (irl not just meaning videos shared online) I didn't get the feeling that a change is coming at all after reading that

So basically the focus is on a PR campaign? Which is obviously off to a flying start with their tone-deaf stance.

Where are British Dressage in this? I keep thinking about more volunteering and about going to that event with Becky Moody and Sophie Wells et al. but I'm not clear what the stance is for affiliated dressage in this country. My time and money is a drop in the dressage world's ocean but still I do not want to give them over if the stance is 'nothing to see here'.

Joe Midgley will be there too alongside Sophie.

To have a "natural horsemanship"/cowboy type at the BD convention is a shift from their norm.

Oh 100%, there is good and bad in every sphere

However I've seen Joe work countless times now and I feel confident saying that's he's one of the good ones who truly puts the horse(s) first.
Yes I have seen good western trainers but I have also seen poor ones. The one I loathe most is Buck Brannan. My current trainer had done some Parelli and again I don't like everything he does her ground work is brilliant .On the yard that she is based on,if they have problems loading for instance, they always turn to her

To each their own, I'd definitely have Buck at the top of the list for living trainers (only below the Dorrance brothers and Ray Hunt, if they were still with us) and I wouldn't go near Parelli or anyone training his way, ditto Monty.

I'm fairly certain Joe has trained with Buck when Buck's been over here. I could be imaging it but I'm convinced I've seen photos of them together.

Each to their own.I would not personally allow Buck any where near any horse of mine.I have reservations about Parelli and Monty too. They both can do some good stuff as well but they can also make my skin crawl a bit.You hace to take what you like and dump the rest.

Whilst I think that there needs to be changes I'm not sure that changes by BD alone will do anything other than diffuse/confuse what needs to be done for the benefit of dressage (and other) horses in all competing countries.

We've already had the USEF doing its own thing in regard to headpieces. Then last week there was the Swedish dressage federation making more independent rules about the interval between 4yo competing. The Nordic countries also seem to align their dressage rules collectively and independently of other countries/FEI.

It's a shame the FEI is so slow/useless and not showing the leadership that is so needed for dressage training/competitions worldwide.

Overall what is needed is united action, not further fragmentation.

A few 'moments in time'. A few good arguments for banning any kind of block or knee roll on dressage saddles (quite apart from other items of tack and dress). I'm sure when I was learning to ride I was told to sit up straight, but maybe that's just for the plebs.

Torture, plain and simple.

Well...... if one wished to influence the type of tack shall we say - the quickest way to get those big saddle blocks to disappear could be to expand the new Swedish rule of more rising trot........
to include a movement or two of stretchy trot ridden in 2-point 🙂🙂
