A local show used to raffle a foal every year. They don’t do it now
‘Looking for the impossible’.
Yes.
You are.
So what’s the point of the post? Are these people hoping that if they close their eyes very tight, and pray to the big pink pixie in the sky, someone with the perfect pony is going to sell it to them at a fraction of its value?
Erm, unless Mum is particularly tiny, I struggle to picture something appropriate for both a 5yo and a grown adult..I feel sorry for some sellers sometimes, with the completely unrealistic buyers who then complain that ponies they went to see were 'not as advertised' and similar remarks.
- Mother/daughter share wanted
- around 14hh
- to take 5yo child off the lead rein
- perfect on the ground around toddlers and to handle in general
- young pony preferred
Budget under £3k.
Not really a realistic advert, no? So adding that they have been to see many ponies that were poorly advertised or had dishonest sellers, isn't really fair.

HOW HARD IS IT TO FIND A PONY!!
I am looking for a pony for my (young) novice (child) who is a little nervous. just about trotting off LR.
MUST be sane and sensible, ridden and on the ground. Must not buck, rear or bolt.
MUST be good in all traffic and not be silly/ strong in an open field. Must hack out alone.
Needs to be safe enough to help teach my (child) to trot and canter with confidence.
Prefer a pony that has been there and done it. Age/looks not important. Not looking for a world beater but not really into hair cobs unless they can be fully clipped and hogged
Pony looking for a quieter life to hack out and do the odd lesson and have fun on. Must be ok if not ridden for weeks on end!
LOCAL ONLY..
Budget not above £2k but experienced, loving home awaits.
Tbh this miffed me a bit.
basically I want a saintly pony for next to nothing in terms of what a saintly first ridden costs.
a few nice people worded this quite articulately to which OP was quite curt.
Riding school? Loan a pony or ask around PC for an outgrown pony to borrow. I can’t see this particular unicorn turning up for £2k without either significant health management issues.
I saw this too.
Tbh my main thought was why are they buying a pony for a child who honestly doesn’t sound very keen? and yes, the budget bit
Saw that advert. Think on happy hackers. The OP is dreamingHOW HARD IS IT TO FIND A PONY!!

No with that breeding I bet he is unrideable unless you're a professional, hence sold from field and only to a professional.
Ant cheap pony's for sale below £250 has to be about or smaller 13.1 it's for my 7 year old brother so it has to be great round children and has to be great all year round x
Not Facebook but horsequest. Wants a fair bit of money for a horse in a field and will only sell to a professional dressage rider. I’m struggling to see this happening.
This made me smile, 688 people think she is tight.

Not Facebook but horse quest - a lame, out of work, barely broken connie for £5,000 … it’s negotiable though
Does it have to be horsey? Saw a Discovery advertised on the Land Rover group the other day, 6 years old this year, non-runner as needs a new engine - £19k!!!
