Tentatively looking for a new companion home for my now retired horse of a lifetime…🤞🏼

* is a senior citizen (mid twenties this year) who is looking for someone kind and knowledgeable to look after her whilst she puts her hooves up!

Ideally this would be a long-term loan position. Financially I will look after her - feet, worming, vets, hard feed etc. All I’d ask is for you to provide care, along with hay and bedding where needed.

She is a small horse, so very easy to deal with and won’t eat you out of house and home! Temperament wise she is a giant Labrador. Super easy to do in all ways, very affectionate and never mareish. She can live with mares and/or geldings no problem and will respect electric fencing etc.

She’s just an amazing horse all round, hence why I’ve kept hold of her since she was * years old!

LOCATION ideally to stay within ***, as close to where I live as possible

. 5* home only with references.

*I must emphasise this is a companion home only - NO RIDING *

Honestly, I tried to see it from her side?
I have a fantastic horse with retirement on the horizon in next year or two, who is the definition of easy. He can be left alone if necessary, turned out with anything. So friendly, ideal companion. However… this advert sounds like please provide me with free retirement livery?
Unless I was giving to a friend who NEEDED a companion and it was a symbiotic relationship type deal, can’t imagine leaving a horse somewhere with no financial contribution. Yes expenses paid for but it just doesn’t sound right?

People have given names of local retirement liveries.

I know someone who is looking for an elderly companion and she sounds absolutely ideal. So I see no problem with her asking.

If I needed a companion I’d jump at this. I have a companion pony on loan from a friend but I pay for his keep, foot trims etc.

I think this is fine tbh especially because she's paying the majority of the bills! If I was someone looking for a companion and saw this I'd jump at the opportunity as it reminds me of similar perks when you rescue a companion.

"I've been cleaning under my horse's tail with Jeyes fluid ".
WTAF??
I was reading reviews of Deosect last week and read one saying “horse didn’t like the taste, had to dip syringe tip in honey”
😲
I read it several times before spotting that a review for Ivermectin had been entered along with all the Deosect reviews.

A lot of people loan companion horses so this seems a good deal for both.

"Only for sale as I'm getting out of horses. Very sad. Horse is an absolute saint..blah..blah.. perfect in every way.. sale or swap.." 🤔

:D :D :D. Someone forget to edit whatever version of rubbish they were putting out there.

I keep seeing the same post saying along lines of I have unexpectedly got some spare time for a project. I love training the young or quirky ones. Long term 5* home. Anyone wanting a quick sale for a horse they are struggling with pm me.

Funnily a quick look ar her profile shows she has 'unexpectedly had spare time' and been able offer 'long term 5* home' every few weeks for the last couple of years!

There’s a dealer on a local site who is advertising one because of losing their land but doesn’t mention it in other ads. Although the phone number stays the same the location does vary between ads………

Is it an actual 5* rider or just someone who's awarded themselves 5 stars? 😆

somehow doubting a genuine 5* rider would need to advertise on facebook or want something 'on loan'; surely people would be queueing up for them to ride their horse and they'd be, if anything, looking for a lease to ride a competition animal they wouldn't otherwise be able to afford?

I would love to call her bluff, ie email her offering the perfect horse and even suggest that I pay the expenses, make it too good to be true, then ask for a video of her riding and email her back saying "sorry you are not good enough for my horse"

I'm seeing more and more French adverts saying they're looking for a "life partner". Is it just me or does this sound more like a dating advert than someone looking for a horse?

I think it’s an attempt to get around the no advertising animals rule, FB has got weird about what it’ll take down recently.

(I’m in a couple of model horse groups and they’re prone to regular takedowns of ads because we’re ‘selling livestock’!)

Maybe that's it, but these are wanted adds not for sale adds. Not sure if they also get taken down? When I posted a wanted add for a companion horse last summer, I didn't have any issues.

That was the setup I offered down south - I needed a companion, didn’t really want the cost of a second one so offered to do all the care at cost, Ie the owner covered expenses but I did the daily care and didn’t charge anything for that side.
It worked really well for both of us :)

I’m looking for someone (very competent) to ride my horse for 2, maybe 3 weeks for me please whilst my back tries to rest/recover before Windsor.
Will be hacking (walk, some trot) and schooling (some canter). I cannot pay so would suit someone capable who wants to ride.
I’ll be there to get him tacked up and on foot in the school, and you can hack him on his own or with someone from the yard. Can also ride side saddle if you want.
Sorry but NO joy riders or nervous/novice.
He isn’t a novice ride and can be quirky in the school.
Would be Tuesday’s/Thursday’s weekdays after 5:30-6pm and weekends to suit you.

——
I know it says they can’t pay but surely this is where getting a freelance rider would come in? I doubt any “very competent” rider would want to do it for free?
It's a good opportunity for a decent rider finding one will be the problem as most good ones will charge for this.

Looking for $500 and under horses.

Don't send me starved junk. I'm not interested. Don't send me anything under 2. I'm not interested.

I want over 14 hands. I want half way pretty. At least a good build. Now before y'all call me crazy and say it doesn't exist. It does......

I want one you can't catch. I want one that's already thrown 26 people that nobody can ride. I want the biters. The kickers. All the crazies.

And no I'm not killing them. I'm gonna ride them!!! Just check us out for reassurance. We love the projects!!!

- Pic attached is of them is rearing while yanking mouth.

No way people do this?
