Feeling hot hot hot

I leave the bedroom curtains and the door shut all day. I don't open the windows until around 7.30pm. By the time I go to bed at 11pm it's a nice temperature.

We do always have a breeze here which does help!

The heat makes me ill and I did struggle a bit yesterday. I believe today is going to be even worse though, which is a bummer. I've got air con in my bedroom and I'm thinking about taking the tv in there so I can watch something while I'm in a cool room.

25C in my bedroom with fan on not feeling great think I got overheated today but any kind of hot weather makes me feel poorly.

I feel sorry for the horses competing in Paris tomorrow 37C forecast

I don't understand why you don't just get a portable air con unit? Its obviously really affecting your life. Even I have air con and I live on a boat!

Just been outside to put the washing out and it is hideous!

Am lying with my head on a hot water bottle filled with cold water, house like a bat cave, and have opened the loft hatch following a suggestion on MN, as the heat can then hopefully rise into there, away from me

Unfortunately the back door has a clear pane in, and the sun is that side in the afternoon, so it'll absolutely fry, as there's no way of covering the pane

Bring back the cooler weather please!

Its difficult to know whats best, windows open, closed, curtains opened or closed. We live in a bungalow and the front is south facing with big windows.

Yesterday I had the windows and curtains shut, with a fan but it still got up to 28/29 inside. The heat between the curtain and window was unbelievable. Today I'm trying curtains closed but windows open, and windows open at the back of the house to try and get some air moving around.

I do like the heat.. wonder if anywhere has any aircon units left!

I keep the curtains shut the side the sun is but my patio doors on one side and side door I leave open as in the shade, we have a bungalow as well and it's not too bad we have fans as well.

If it was making me that uncomfortable I would just get a few air con units for those of you struggling that are well worth it.

My mum is Spanish from the centre of Spain where it regularly tops 40°C in August.

Windows open evening and early morning, possibly all night if it's safe to cool the house down. Once it starts to get hot windows closed and blinds/curtains closed. If direct sun some sort of shade to stop it coming in but blinds work better than thick cloth curtains.

My 1st floor flat faces east and has french windows, lovely to catch winter sun. I can't leave them open all night as they face the street. 7am go and open all the windows but keep the blinds and curtains closed. It's still really pleasant here but I will close the windows soon and not open till 7pm this evening.

I can't use air con as I react and it affects my breathing, they had a portable one in a previous job which made things worse and did the damage Some built in systems aren't as bad but portable and car are bad. I had to travel for work in the middle east regularly and in my hotel I would put in on to cool the room down when I wasn't in there but I had to turn it off at night when I was there it was very hot but I coped.

Hang a towel over it then shut the door

When the sun moves round it is on our kitchen window in the afternoons and evenings which makes it unbearable in hot weather. We have found that tilting a large cantilever parasol upright in front of the window to block the sun makes a massive difference to the temperature in the kitchen.

I didnt ride today at 11.00. Yesterday afternoon I spent a long time cutting up and bagging branches that had been pruned back from the council tree outside our house. Dustbin men removed them this morning so success. But I got too hot and tired, I supose and too giddy to ride safely.

I have asked if I can ride at 10 for the next few weeks. Horse naps if she gets too hot. YM doesnt believe me. Just believes the horse naps. But my view after riding her for three years is that she only naps in protest at summer heat.

Honestly my horse doesn't seem to mind the heat. I hosed him off despite his repeated attempts to tell me water is the natural enemy of the thoroughbred then took him for a pick of grass. I was trying to keep to the shade partly to see my phone screen but no he kept dragging me out to full sun. His desert ancestors have had a strong influence, he definitely thinks it was a mistake to be born in Ireland

I poured water gently over mine while he ate. As soon as he’d finished he promptly rolled to get all the nasty water off 🤣. He’s quite happy despite being from Inverness and living on the south coast!

Had a power cut last night just as we went to bed. No fun trying to sleep without the fan 🥵. It only lasted an hour but it took ages to get to sleep as it took a while for the room to vaguely cool down.

Another awful hot day ahead, trying to sleep was horrible

The house hasn't cooled down at all (can't have the windows open overnight as even though we don't live on the coast there's a tonne of seagulls)

Yeah, my chunky black Fell pony has to be removed from the sun for his own good. No common sense!

Mine wanted out in the field yesterday at about 1.30 they were sweating in the stable abd I figured they would be cooler out they have shade.

I tried to sponge them off in the field last night and they ran off 🤣🤣

It's cooler today and quite breezy not as humid had a hack at about 8.30 this morning it was nice, i might try and school Louis later this evening at about 7.30 as he was sound asleep this morning.

Since you first posted about your hot bedroom some time e ago, whenever it's hot I think of you and hope you. can get through til it cools

Got a laminitic in a sectioned area, no shade, the others all have options of shade under tree's nope, all stood out in the sun, so I didn't worry, as I'm sure fatty pants would have done the same and kept filling her face with grass as well, I just monitor the situation

We’ve been making our own hay this week for the first time ever and we certainly chose a good time to do it in this weather! The farmer has been here bailing it this afternoon and I’ve not long been in after doing lots of stacking. We have ended up with 550 bales!! More than we thought - from approx 8 acres. Think we will have enough for the three horses 🙈🙈 will be selling some too.
