if the clothing is tight in order to be functional, like women's riding tights/breeches, then surely men should be entitled to wear them instead of being encumbered by additional fabric to spare poor laydeez who get overwhelmed by the thought of natural anatomy o_O

I mean, we all have horses. We're used to all kinds of bits hanging out and waving around. I think we can cope with the outline of far smaller bits behind a layer or two of fabric.

You mean you don't put a cape on your horse to ensure passers-by are not horrified by the hanging out and waving bits? ?

I'm a guy and recently started lessons after many years since my last visit to the local stables and it was also the first time I've worn jodhpurs (comfort first!) The first couple of lessons were no problem (I wore a black pair) but on my most recent visit I perhaps mistakenly wore cream jods with long boots and I felt that everyone was looking at me! I guess this is something like what women must feel when being objectified... (Might go back to black!)

To be honest, men that wear tight clothing are “asking for it”, yes, you’re going to be whistled at if you leave nothing to the imagination. How do you expect women to control themselves if they can see the outline of your anatomy? It’s your fault women can’t control themselves so I suggest you invest in one of these:

In all honesty I was just at a loss at the suggestion HopOnTrot had made.

It was incredibly demeaning to women I felt, and I mean imagine if you swopped the genders in that post, it would immediately become incredibly offensive and be sexual harrassment - and I'm not sure it wasn't, therefore.

Maybe I'm in a minority. Maybe the original post was made in jest... Hope so! If it was it wasn't that obvious to me though.

Anyway, like I wrote, I don't have the energy, and so I've not been particularly eloquent.

I am certain HopOnTrot wrote that post in jest as an example of how women have been spoken to for decades (centuries??) and to highlight how utterly useless and harmful that language is to someone in that vulnerable position or feeling exposed...in this case a man, but more commonly throughout history, women.

That said...I didn't find it funny either. Maybe because I, too, have heard the victim blaming one too many times to women and just don't find it amusing, even when the sarcasm is dead on point. I have sat in on too many SA cases at work now to see any humor in it anymore.

FWIW, to @Midlifecrisis80 or whoever else this might help, I've seen some breeches manufacturers that have a looser cut on the men's breeches, with a thicker fabric and much more relaxed and less revealing fit. Maya Delorez comes to mind, as does Tailored Sportsman here in the US. Mountain Horse makes the Tristan breech with a similar cut and those aren't crazy expensive like the MD and TS breeches.

I know of some dudes that wear dance belts (what male ballet dancers wear) under their breeches if necessary to keep everything secure.

The amount of new posters who claim to be male and then within their first post start talking about jodhpurs/breeches and male anatomy is quite something. It doesn't take long for them to take it further either

There have been a few over the past couple of years who are given the benefit of the doubt and advice, then, yeah 🙄

I haven't re read the start of this thread but this might have been one of them. There was one "man" who's profile picture was white leggings with rubber boots and he had a lot of questions 🙄 then there was another who had a lot of underwear questions and wanted to PM people pictures.

If a new poster claims to be male and mentions clothing in the first post they get ignored.

Never yet had a new female poster who needed to launch into intimate details on their introduction post!

I too am certain it was an eyesrolled type sarcasm post.

I too get sock of supposed males joining and then wanting to talk outlines of their private parts.

In case this poster was genuine, we've seen it all before.

My boyfriend started to ride, I bought him these...

Cheap as chips, no visible outline, space for the equipment and comfortable.

Maybe it’s one of the first things they ask because they are new to riding and the new kit feels strange and exposing to them. It’s possibly one of the first things they notice and have questions about it.

I mean there is gym leggings now being worn that emphasis a females back end which usually does the same to the front. Fair enough, horses for courses and all that. But I’m not going to be upset by men in leggings or Lycra either. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have always worn womens jods, as all the mens look like Japanese prison guards pants, all one pale diarreah colour, and all are horrible to look at, nowhere to hide a semi though, but hey Ho Camel toes on show and butts galore from the women, after soooo many years of riding the novelty was worn off years ago, people need to get over it if they want to be on a horsey yard, as others said dangly bits and foofs in season everywhere you look with horses etc.
