You are clearly an educated rider with good feel, when I rode I struggled with good feel, I could have done with being taught a lot more about biomechanics. Don't diss it just because you don't need it, however I do use the term in the loosest way, a horse moving without compensatory patterns is the main aim.

it just makes me feel feint, mary wanless etc oh god it all sounds so complicated

i despair for riders trying understand all the jargon

Which is why I have pretty much all my advanced training in Portugal or Spain, where it is normal to do things that are considered extraordinary in the UK, jargon-free and with very simple instruction.

Mary Wanless is biomechanics of the rider, we're talking about the horse, and a lack of understanding of how a horse should move is evidenced continually in the competition ring at all levels.

Oh that we all had access to those kinds of trainers.
