OK, find me an ex racer

I'm enjoying this thread. I feel like I'm learning, what with your ability to find flaws that I just would not spot!

Check out a 4 year old mare on ROR. If that's not an unrepresentative snapshot in time then she's got a serious problem with her pelvis. 5 year old gelding further down with negative coffin bone angles on the hinds and sore heels in front. All guesswork, of course, but....

What a lovely offer. I know we don't always see eye to eye but I would love to meet you both, I like people with principles.

No viewing for me though, just look at that jumper's bump they're hiding under that rug!
.
We are so near to each other that I'm sure we could arrange to meet for a cuppa at some point, maybe visit Honey08's coffeebox

Have you seen Whitehawk Thor on DD? I don't know if you could stand to have another spotty and you would need to research, as they are not registrable (I believe) but a friend has one from that stud bought as a youngster and doing well ridden.

I have heard a lot about Whitehawk horses being prone to PSSM, no idea how true that is.

Yep. There is actually a Facebook group for it ‘Whitehawk owners - sharing of PSSM’ which is severely frowned upon by the breeders.

I know 3 Whitehawk horses, one 6yo with some strange fetlock condition , another was put to sleep at 3 due to chronic hock arthritis (unbroken!) and another with a muscle condition. Would avoid.

I know one was pts the other week too but that was due to more of an injury but arthritis was also found making the rehab a bit difficult

Also YCBM, love this thread. The things you've said when you looked the horses is a really good insight, the things you've commented I would've never really picked up on, what a keen eye!

Thanks that's nice to hear. This stuff just screams out at me from pictures, I don't know why. I've got my eye on a real beauty I was told about by a forum member, but I suspect he'll be sold by the time I get back from Paris in a week, though I've been told the syndicate who own him are very concerned he goes to someone who knows how to retrain him properly and give him a good home, so I've blown my own trumpet in an email to the trainer.

You're the person people need when told "When viewing a horse it's best to bring a knowledgeable friend with you"! I hope it goes well, I did put across my socials what you were looking for, hopefully it goes all okay 👍

Good for you! You deserve it.

I knew there was something in the breeding, which is why BApS won't register them but couldn't remember what it was.

Eta, I mentioned the horse on this thread because he is being sold in Manchester

Wonder what he'd be like in a more one to one environment... Possibly has ulcers or similar
That’s what I think when I see that, I’d love to be in a position to give him a chance. I’ve had some nutty horses that came around. 6 years ago I’d have been on that like a rash lol 😂 older and wiser i hope or maybe I’m just becoming more risk adverse?! Hope he lands on his feet!

There’s a couple of BApS registered part breds from whitehawk (I have one)

There was a 4 year old on Preloved and I think it was Cheshire based. I was half asleep last night when I was scrolling through and I didn’t really look at the picture in any detail so you may have already seen it and discounted it. I remember sleepily thinking I’d mention it to you, just in case.

I saw the one unbacked and only 3.That's one risk too far for me at the moment, especially now I don't have my own place. He didn't float my boat much either.

I saw her and rejected her.

"needs restarting". I wouldn't touch any horse that should easily be able to be shown with a rider on with a 20ft bargepole. They are worth so much more ridden, and if that would be easy then it's senseless not to do it, unless.....

And she is way over priced for "sold from the field" ex racer.
