Pig Ugly Horses?

Ok, so if the word 'then' is put into Tb's post I can see what you mean. As it stands she refers to the Op and then says 'I wouldn't have been so evil' suggesting that the Op was. Trust me I'm an English teacher, the sentence doesn't lend itself to your interpretation without the word 'then'.

As you were.

TB has already confirmed she was calling herself evil and not OP. Maybe her sentence wasn't perfect english and this lead to confusion. But we now know what she meant, so leave it there?

Actually, I thought Neddy was an ugly blighter when I first saw him.

I wanted an overgrown black arab (aye alright, I was young!) and bought a HW hairy piebald because I fell in love with him. My mother thought he was an ugly sod when we bought him, now she thinks he's the most beautiful thing in the world. How she couldn't see it in him to start with, I'll never know. Love does grow - but it's a big gamble to buy a horse you aren't sold on (in any way - personality or looks) before you fall in love with it.

Yes, perhaps that is what led to the confusion, if that's the case then I can't REALLY be blamed for my interpretation......

Gah!

Ok, sifs here is something missing from Tb's post, if it goes in then i can see what you mean. As it stands she refers to the Op and then says 'I wouldn't have been so evil' suggesting that the Op was. Trust me I'm an English teacher, the sentence doesn't lend itself to your interpretation without the missing bits....

As you were.

Most of the posts on this forum don't make sense without your brain filling in the gaps :D I thought the absence of "then" was implied sense because of the phrasing, but it depends on what your brain is expecting to have to fill in. Life would be so much easier if people obeyed the laws of English more fully! :D (A/A* since we're sharing trivial historical details now :p )

Chin Chin! Jolly good ol' lass. I agree fully, say do you fancy going down to the public house for a gin?

:D

I agree, especially when I look back on that awful, badly typed post you have just quoted. You witch.

Oh the shame.

Group hug?

I seem to have found my dream horse but have a huge problem..he is pig ugly. A face that only a mother could love and he is a dunn :( What would you do? Go with the prospect or hold out for looks as well as ability?

Personality is better as you have to live in harmony together :)
I love the colour dun too, beauty is in the eye of the beholder & I had a doubtful looking horse but its amazing how beautiful any horse can look with regular care & attention (a pair of clippers, tidy mane & tail, chalk....even just to see them working correctly makes them beautiful).
GO FOR IT. I would x

That would be most spiffing. And after a few gins, we will be seriously lacking the laws of English in our conversation!.

Shame on you. You are an embarassment to your profession  :D

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, all horses are special in there own way. If you are having to ask then perhaps you are not really sure yourself, when I first saw and tried Ebony I straight away wanted her, and I would not have and did not care what anyone else thought of her, she was the horse for me, so if you are asking what do we think, I then think perhaps the horse really is not for you, because if it really was you would not care what we said.

hehe, now Billie is one of us :D

Oh yes, most spiffing indeed. I need to just bob down to the ol' cobblers for some new shoes as I have some holes in the front of mine!

Dear oh dear miss tessybear, are you trying to communicate with us ol' folks who speak 'proper' english?
If so, come on over to our fireplace, but don't forget the gin!
Chin!Chin! :D

I wouldn't buy a horse if i didn't like the look of it. I'd want to be spending my hard earned cash on something i like the look of, regardless of whether it can or can't do the job.

Can't really see that much of a big deal in that myself.

{shrug}

A shame you didn't give such attention to poor Mr Apostrophe, who has been very much left out of that party :(
