Let us pray for jodies fence
Our fence, who art in field, harrowed be thy name, thy fencepost come, repairs will be done, in earth & quite often in paddocks. Keep out the trespassers as they trespass over you. Amen.
 
HOW on earth did I fail to trip over this fence thread? :D
I normally stumble across all, but this has suddenly hit me like a brick wall laughing!!....
 
Fools motto- I can explain why it has hit you like a brick wall. Walls are very good for novices, but do have a tendency towards bolshy behavior. So I am not suprised a wall has hit you.

You have a problem with barbed wire Posie?

Not all of us are focused on having pretty fences. A good fence is never the wrong colour.

And I'll have you know I am one of those selfish fence owners who also allows a horse to freely roam within my fences.

We have only ever had one accident, the silly horse tried to kick the fence, sadly we lost one strand a a couple of star pickets (collective gasp - OOOOOH) however we were able to successfully relocate a retired wire strand who is now usefully living out its days to take its place.

Just goes to show the old fences are still as capable as the newfangled ones.
 
Isn't barbed wire the guard dog of the fence world?
I imagine Hedges can be a bit prickly to handle and again tricky to move. Every so often they go on strike and need to be laid down too, to recover from their work. Saying that, they work hard against the wind and are good to clip.
 
You would all say that, hedges are just not suitable for novices. I suggest you all go & join your nearest branch of barrier club & go to regular railys. You can then progress to hedge owning when you have the ability to go 3 day fencing

Fools Motto can we all remember please that there may be younger people reading this thread and talk of hedges being laid should really be left until after the watershed. Let's keep it clean please folks.

I'm suprised the hunting fraternity haven't been on to tell us about their hedges. I understand there's some abuse goes on there with people forcing their way through them. Wants banning if you ask me :mad:
 
Yes indeed, major problems with a huntsman jumping your hedge, & whipped in just sounds painful. I have problems with small creatures in my undergrowth.

Oh thank god someone else does too! I have problems with lots of different small creatures in my bush! Some in fact aren't so small! One night there was something large, black and white with hair that ran out of my bush infront of me. It was snarling and had teeth! :eek:
 
I did consider it but I am concerned they may shoot into my bush - I don't want any damage done! My bush has been carefully trimmed over many years and I take pride in it.
