So Dissapointed

It never ceases to amaze me that people think it's ok to be personally insulting and rude because they don't agree with what someone has said.

Go read the original thread and point out to me where Shils has been rude. She has been unfailingly polite - even to the point of asking posters to be civil.

If anything is bullying, it is this thread that has been started merely for the purpose of vilifying one user.

Is there some rule that said rudeness is ok if it is righteous rudeness?

I know Shils is a big girl and can stand up for herself but I am getting increasingly annoyed by the personal attacks in this thread. In fact in one thread someone has gone as far as to suggest she has a drink problem because she doesn't agree with what she posted.

Shame on you.

Actually... I haven't singled her out at all... if I was going to single someone out it wouldn't be Shils, although I didn't like her OP...

But as I said on the other post... I honestly can't believe this is still going on. Even I'VE moved on :)

I have to say I am disappointed by the lack of civility shown on both threads - I had thought better of you all.
I think we should ALL have the freedom of speech to voice our opinions (as long as they don't contravene any law) without receiving personal abuse - unless I am mistaken that's one of the advantages of living in a free society.
Just why some of you think it is acceptable to discuss me (and others) in such negative terms in a thread is beyond me, and all because you disagree with certain points of view.
Well, I think you have achieved your aim, LittleSoph, as I am not sure I want to interact with people who behave with a pack mentality...
S :(

S :(

Such as gangs of "civilised", "upstanding" citizens who then band together to burn down a paediatricians' house?

I think I know where you're coming from. Does little Soph live in Swansea? :)

You see, I have had 'run-ins' with a few people on here in the past, but they have never got past that. Mainly because I step away from the computer and go and speak to real people - and if I'm honest have a giggle about how serious imaginary internet people take some things

Then the next time I see them on here, I'm not out for them, and nor do I put them on UI, I either read their posts or don't - simples.

And fwiw you might not think it now, but asking someones age is pretty important to know how they view things etc - although maybe you'd need to be a bit older to know that  ;)

:)

Freddie is gorgeous and that thread was either going to go one way or the other. Most people took it as a joke, some chose not to. It takes different things to offend people, and it could be said that you took it all way to personaly, most laughed it off. In fact it is all quite stupid when you consider what else is going on in the world!

I think there was some low grade bullying going on.That post was put up there to annoy, anger some people I think.Nothing for admin to get involved with as to me posts should only be removed if they are deeply personally offensive/threatening/rascist or homophobic.None of the posts fell into that category that I read at any rate.I agree with posters who say ignore and don't open posts that you feel will upset you.I know Shils views on cobs so if I was going to be offended I wouldn't have opened the post.It is only a forum at the end of the day.

Shils, next time you are wanting to lighten the board a little remember that there is a serious lack of sense of humour amongst some!

I can't wait to see the post top of the list in H&H this week, how funny will that be when people go on to see what all the fuss has been about. The second I read the post I could see it was tongue in cheek and I'm more than sure that Shils expected a load of good natured banter to result from it. Why on earth it was taken sooo seriously by some I will never understand. Why on earth this post was written I probably do understand! GET A LIFE!

I read Shils post and I think she came across as a bitter person who lives by the quote 'It's my way or the highway' Her followers seem to go through thick and thin to make sure her opinion is justified 'baaaaa' Thats the sound of a sheep if you hadn't already noticed.

You know what it sodesnt matter what the intention was whether humourous or not.

Its the effect. How many of us have felt slighted when at the end of a slagging??? An anyone who says no i think you need to think long and hard.

I thought the way that thread was done/written what ever was entitled to get the retort that it did whether humourous or not.

So if I invaded the board with a group of syncophants and had a go at you all you would all just go oh thats a laugh as she has stuck a smiley on the end of it.

Would you heck!!!

I mean come on people i am a member of some fluffy forums and yes they get on my wick sometimes with the cliqueyness and stuff but on here its nastier cliqueyness on the verge of open bullying, but I mean decorum is the same you shouldnt use the term open forum to bait and bully and I for one would like an opinion from the mods on what went on. I am all for having your say and fighting your corner I for one am very scrappy when my blood is up on a subject but I wouldnt post about a type of horse that may be close to someones heart.

I dont even own a cob in the proper sense of that word i have a Welsh DxTB but you wouldnt call him cobby hes too fine.

LS I agree whole heartedly with you.

Do you know what dissapoints me? There was a post in Soapbox yesterday called "Feel so numb...". The OP had just found out her unborn niece had developed a brain deformity and was going to die. That post hasn't attracted one tenth of the posts this and the cob one has done. Someone in this community is mourning a child and yet here we have people crying to the heavens and admin about bullying, working themselves up into a lather at their keyboards, swearing and leaving abusive messages for others because some one doesn't like your choice of pet. If you don't want to be bullied or find yourself at the end of a slagging, step away from the computer and find some thing worthwhile to do, its really easy. We're not in the playground and we're not at work. Why do you care so much what some one who doesn't even know your real name, has to say about you?

Firstly I don't understand why anyone would want to be a 'follower' of someone on an internet forum when they have no idea who they are or what they do  and I don't understand why on here when people agree with eachother they are immediately called 'cliquey' it is just as possible for people to agree individually as it is for them to disagree.

If you wish admin to clarify the matter I am sure they will if you ask them.

I reckon welsh D xTB is and F1 warmblood ;) :) ... not sure what F most warmbloods are on now though :D

And you joined JUST so you could post that...?

I am deeply offended that you have called me a syncophant. At least if you had said sycophant I would have been able to say look at my posts.

I would be interested which part of the OP gave you that impression, she simply stated her point of view. I would point out that many of those people you call 'followers' have never responded to a post by/about Shilasdair before (check through their previous posts, including mine!). I have read her posts before and have usually found them to be funny and written tongue in cheek or helpful when she has replied to a serious topic but I am hardly a follower. I just have a sense of humour and don't take myself too seriously! I am appalled at the lack of humour that is being shown.

I own a mix of breeds, hanoverian, tb, appaloosa, IDxTB, haflinger, welshies and a selection of other natives and I love every one of them. I also don't care what anyone else thinks so why would I take that post seriously.

You appear to have assumed a lot from reading that one post about it's author for someone who has only just joined the forum and for that reason I suspect you are a TROLL who either hasn't got the guts to write under your own name or is trying to just add another name to those having a go.

How very sad, my thoughts are with the person concerned :( .

I think everyone should read the above post and put things into perspective, if certain peoples posts annoy or offend you or you cannot stand their opinions then put them on UI....it is what it is there for.

totally agree........
I walked into a shop last week and some woman called me a foreigner!!!!!!! now thats discrimatory.........not saying that you dont like cobs!! or any other type, breed or animal...
I think its disgusting how you have treated the OP, just for expressing her opinion and a lot of the posters who responded were even more nasty about other breeds in defending their cob.... what a sad bunch of human beings you are.

theres nothing wrong with discussions... and repying to the original post..
but the majority of replies were insulting to the OP, and thats uncalled for. What has been posted about the OP is defamation of character and she could be well informed to take legal action.
and the heading requires to be changed from "dissapointed to disappointed." Its irritating me!
