The GB riders have qualified for the dressage team final

(15 teams, 10 go fwd and there are 4 teams with 3 scores in, lower than the Brits, and the US team with a rider eliminated)

Just a wait and see now to confirm Carl and Lottie have qualified for the individual final. Becky got auto qualification.

The Polish test on Maxima Bella is worth watching if you want to see a perfect horse. The Dutch test that’s won this group is only worth watching if you want to complain.

The Australian rider in this group was nice to watch and the Portuguese rider had a very beautiful Lusitano.

Yet another stereotypically Dutch test... He is admittedly showing a more open frame in the canter than in the trot but that tail is permanently swishing and that mouth is not happy.

flicked over to the BMX during lunchtime when the dressage was on a break - loved watching the chinese lady win, but even more enjoyed the chinese competitor that fell off, punched their bike into submission and then carried on again. Fortunately a bike is definitely not a living thinking being - loved her tenacity!

I really liked the polish mare.

The woman commentator is really annoying me calling them “it’s” all the time. I don’t think I’ve watched equestrian sports on tv before and heard the commentators calling the horses “it’s”. She’s driving me mad I’ll have to mute it soon

I always think that when someone describes an animal as "it" that is a person who sees animals as a commoditie rather than a living being.

Another tense test with a fussy mouth (Canadian rider) but what I will say is that I'm liking seeing riders give their horse pats within the test just to thank them after these trickier movements.

It's quite soothing to be completely baffled by a sport while actually feeling able to wholeheartedly admire their accomplishments

It was but they were also commenting on it's back coming down (I think what she was referring to it needing a rounder frame) and not sure if that is good for them either.

I really think the floor-based BMX stuff could be a viable dressage alternative for people who can't/won't deal with their sport involving a living being.
