Back safe from xc, only 1 very hairy moment about half way round. Aiming at a fence, centre of 3, roll top at about 80. B comes in v well but on take off swerves hard right, clears part, drops a foot and bashed the 1m fence on right. V odd to have them so close together, trainer passed message back that it was a tad dangerous. Luckily only a minor scrape on upper leg behind.
Otherwise all v v good, plenty of variety inc steps, water, barrels, chair, oxers etc etc, gave many a good bit of air..... trainer very pleased at how B has come on from last year tho.
6th time out on an xc course ever, 1st time since early Oct last year, v happy with her.
SJ tomorrow morning.....

Sorry, had a couple of photos, but keep getting 'oops, ran into problems ' when uploading :(
Glad you both are ok.

Glad you're safely back TFF.
We had to hack to our local sj day, my owners car broke so we've withdrawn from bold tomorrow.
Jumped well round the 75 course, pecked landing from the joker fence and nearly went splat. The 90 was quite rough round the edges, and we didnt jump the joker again - the going was too deep for him. We had quite a few poles in the 90, but he at least attempted every fence I asked him toreceived_571897806821678.jpegreceived_683238719187656.jpeg

Well no dressage for Jack today sadly! Times too spread out - from 9.30 til 7. Withdrew him plus all the others that were supposed to be doing two tests just did one.
But very good results for the yard. J had 1 winner on 72%, another winner with 81% (won by over 10%), and a good placing with 68% on his first dressage outing. And B had a win on 70%! Think they'll be exhausted though!

81% is fantastic.

We had a fabulous time out at the 2 phase event ??
OH wasn’t riding until the afternoon (3.30pm). Originally I was hoping for an earlier time however it worked out really well as he ended up working down in Co. Cork yesterday (about 350 miles away, of which about 75 miles are on narrow country roads lol) and didn’t leave until yesterday evening, only home after 1am. So the late start turned out to be a massive bonus!!
Arrived around 1.45pm which gave us stacks of time to watch the SJ to learn the course and plenty of time to then walk the xc. He had opted for the 75/80cm class just to keep it as simple as possible for them both. Although we have been out sj and xc schooling recently, OH hasn’t ridden in a competitive environment for a few years so wanted to keep it low key & fun ?
SJ went really well. The first fence had Flowers of Doom under it which horse had a good look at, but he jumped really nicely for a lovely confidence boosting clear round.

On to the xc! Fence 3 was a bogey fence apparently ? OH had decided before he started and lo & behold, horse agreed and ran out. OH then realised he had to keep on riding, so re-presented C to the fence, and away they went, flying round the rest of the course with no problems at all. Picked up 20 jumping faults and 20 odd time penalties, so very very pleased with them both. A confidence boosting first competitive outing for them both!

Trying again, yep!
Had to reduce size. Pics taken by friends 11yr old, I don't think he did a bad job.
B Fuzzy rather new to this xc lark lol.
No, the tree wasn't in my face lol. The 70 log (looks smaller in pic!) was on top of a mound, so tho B left lots of room, we had a long way to go down....

Had intended to take Darcy to arena hire today but dithered as there was a rumour that the old severn bridge was shutting and it's a PITA having to divert via the new bridge.
Instead I took Kira up to the school at home to try out her new calmer supplement... don't have high hopes but I'm at the "try anything" stage so we are trialing ProKalm to see if that stops her feeling so worried. Hadn't planned to school her today so she had no go-faster food in her breakfast but we just did some basics - straightness, in front of the legness, neat transitions and quality paces and she was in a happy place so that's encouraging. it's a bit bloody pricey but then so is having a horse you can't ride o_O

Horseflies were bad so Darcy got a pass, he was a good boy yesterday recapping the half pass learning he's been doing. Instead Hera did some more leading practice. Got her on the lead rope this time as she has graduated from needing an arm round the bum and she toddled round the field like a pro.

I am so looking forward to seeing her grow up :D it's probably the most exciting thing I've ever done with horses!

Glad Kira had her halo on today MP!

Hera is just gorgeous.... I am sure you are thrilled to bits with her ?
I am, I wouldn't have the first idea how to evaluate the actual quality of a foal but tbh I couldn't care less :p the whole experience so far has been magical (apart from Salty being poorly) and even if she turns out to be a right donkey she will fit in with my motley crew anyway! it's so fun getting to know each other and seeing her develop each day.

it's funny looking at that picture, she looks to have longer cannons than salty already. will have to have a proper look tomorrow. In fairness Salts has really short cannons. after all Millie's soft tissue injuries it was one of the things I liked about her! bloody thing is growing like a weed, will be keeping a close eye on her ;)

Oh FF, I think I'm in love, B fuzzy is gorgeous. Just look at those neat front legs and happy little face?
Thank you, so much of the time she tries so hard to please me, halo only slips a bit with jumping as she gets so carried away and tries to cart me over anything she can lock on to!

It is a wonderful thing to do. :) One particular horse that we have bred has just been such an important member of our family and we are so proud of him. He is not a competition horse but a superb hunter for whom we have had many offers of purchase, yet remembering him being born and all of his 'milestones' achieved has made selling him impossible. We have had lots of youngsters and bred other horses too but some are really special. Hera is utterly gorgeous and you have so much to look forward to with her!! :) :)

Really please with how my hacking went on Friday and this morning. Friday we went on TROT again but did far more, again only in walk but she felt really happy and relaxed, today (much to my initial horror) I went out with a couple of friends on their eventers, did some off road stuff and then quite a lot on the fairly busy main road. They were great, really looked after me and put me on the inside of one of the horses and Rose coped perfectly with caravans, motor bikes cyclists, the lot really! I was very pleased with her. I also had a lovely day with a close friend yesterday whilst Rose had a day off, a good catch up, lunch in the sunshine and a glass or two of wine. I felt I'd had a day off too.
Pic below is of Rose at the RC clinic last Sunday, it's not often I have one of her and that moment of suspension, also shows my new air jacket which I am so pleased I bought!108216148_3287841277943593_5957764714185861883_o.jpg

Back from camp.

Had an awesome time. Loved my biomechanics session! Inviting her to our yard now to run a clinic. And will sign up for the equipilates stuff online.
Our old dressage trainer who - alas - has moved South was back to teach at camp. It was lovely to see her again and be reminded of how great she is. I am jealous of anyone who lives near Hartpury where she has gone.

Bioemechanics, dressage and XC were all fab. Strongly disliked the SJ trainer though. It's rare that someone just sets my teeth on edge like he did but noooooo. Still 3 out of 4 aint bad. Katie is doing a video edit so whoever complained about 'not enough pictures on this thread' will soon get LOTS!!

SJ training went v well this morning, in fact <insert drum roll> I'd hoped they would have been bigger! B Fuzzy v good, tackled everything v well and was SO much better balanced than the last time I was there, back in late January. Even getting leading leg right on landing just about every time.
Knackered, but had a great 2 days out and about.
Now, vino and Chinese takeaway :)

We missed our express eventing due to aforementioned broken car, so just a messing sort of day really, trimmed his legs up this afternoon, had a nice dog walk and narrowly avoided explosive vomit from my owners child down my back when I was taking them home. She had the grace to do it all over the passenger side which her mum had just vacated ?

Hadn’t planned on doing much but last night decided to finally get that trip to Cholsey farm riding, in the chilterns. Stunning place, had a fantastic time. First visit there, 1st time out with the horse since Jan, and no horsey company although OH was on foot. It’s blooming hilly so was v glad I was on finnegan. Had a fab ride, F was chilled out and happy and we rode round some gorgeous places. Forgot how happy these things make me ? I now have that ‘been out in the sun all day‘ tired but happy feeling.

I must have a spot of heat stroke but I’ve just booked onto a hedge hopping training day in Sept. I must be mad. I barely jump more than a twig but hopefully by then we’ll be feeling a bit more like it and it will force me out of my comfort zone, but in a good way!

We had a brilliant weekend in the sunshine! Dressage club was fab, I get so much out of my lessons and it been good to ride with a range of coaches that I wouldn't normally and it has been so good for our development. Henry worked the best he ever has, he felt so engaged and I have another brilliant exercise to try at home.

Sunday we jumped at home for the first time in ages. Henry was a good boy but I had a hard time getting things right without my coach in my ear. However it was a good learning ride and I know where I went wrong so I can correct myself in future. He makes it all feel very easy even when I don't help him so thats a positive. I will jump out of lessons more often now too to try and improve things when I am on my own.

KEK I am trying to turn her into a a safe and steady hack as well as dressage diva. Work in progress!
AE, I'm not far from Hartpury, who is the dressage trainer, pm if you'd prefer
AE/HP Somerford looked like a complete nightmare with so many on the course at once. A real test of control and temperament, like a fun ride on steroids.

Off to my lesson at AM later this morning, hopefully rose will have a lie down and snooze before we leave!

Oldie she is Alice Beasley. She is the loveliest person as well as being a brilliant trainer. I spent over a year with a trainer with Amber and never got anywhere then switched to Alice and it was all coming together then she left! I like my new trainer too but although she helps me get Toby going nicely, I can only achieve that with her telling me what to do every moment. Alice explains what to feel for and lets you figure things out for yourself more. I can follow instructions in a lesson but my feel for what to do when is not very good.

I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was over the weekend! Perhaps I have become immune to the busyness. It is such a fantastic venue that people come from all over the country.
