What do you work as/whats your job

Just interested to see what everyone's Job is, whether horsey or 'normal'
and how do you cope with full time job + horses?

and if you are a student what are you studying?
 
Mines a normal office job in a college 8.30am - 5pm (sometimes later) Monday to Friday.

Also doing teacher training and have 1 year left of that to do on top. Lol, if money wasnt an issue I would do a horsey related job though. :D
 
Lucky enough to be a teacher so set hours and lots of holidays to spend with the boy :)
I go to him on the way to work and on the way back. He's my treat so don't think would want a horsey job - spend the day times with my other love: books!
 
I own a hair/beauty salon. Has its pros and cons:

Sometimes I simply cannot leave if clients come unannounced / staff absences etc

BUT

I can mark myself out when I want (at a cost obviously) and if quiet, disappear for a ride for a couple of hours without asking permission (although last time a 30 min ride turned into 2.5 hours I had a very frantic team and OH who I had not "updated"!)
 
I'm a barrister specialising in family law.

Oh, and I'm studying for a masters in child law by distance learning in my "spare time".

No horse yet, but I'm working on it! (Another failed vetting today :() and being self-employed means I can take time off as and when I fancy it. Hours can be unpredictable though, and it's not the sort of job that you can "call in sick" as people really need you to be there.
 
I have a livery yard that I run with my OH...well... I do all the rubbish jobs and he rides with me as he's the estate gamekeeper as well.

It's MISERABLE sometimes, but I love being in charge of my own days, deciding when I want a holiday (ha, if I ever have the money) and I love that spending time with my horses is part of my job.
 
Account manager at a communications agency 8.45-5 4 days a week 7.30-7 1 day. I am studying for a professional qualification. Got the morning routine down to 15 minutes but rarely get home before 9pm...I've a VERY understanding OH!
 
Im an Accountant full time and college once every 2 weeks!

Normally horses before work so up at 6, then horses straight after work at 5.30..

Can be a long old day!
 
I work in operating theatres 4 shifts a week - 3x 8 til 6 and one 12 to 9
Horses are all out at the moment so sorted after work on a early and before on a late - dreading winter this year as first time they have been up the farm rather than at home :( means even earlier mornings!
 
I'm a waitress! :p haha

I start no earlier than 10.30 and usually finish at 5-5.30 sometimes with an evening shift at 7.30...
Meant that when I had a pony (and when I do again!) I can ride etc before work which is a massive bonus in the winter.

I work a lot of hours (last two weeks over 50 hours!) But I can say no to shifts if I want a day off, and when my pony was poorly at the vets, they were so good about me calling in and saying I couldn't work!

One day ill have to go into the 'real world' though which will be no fun! :(
 
Project manager/tutor/quality manager (massively varied and fun job)

I work 9-5 though my boss is flexible if I need a vet visit etc (even when I needed a day off when I was looking after a friends horses). I am luck enough to be able to afford full livery Mon-Fri so I go straight up to see my boy after work, that is usually followed by netball or basketball and I get home around 9:30pm. Busy but I love it. Weekend are my own to hack or compete or pamper my gorgeous boy :)
 
Every time I read these threads there are more interesting (to me) jobs that people do - I see a traindriver and a confectioner this time. Brilliant.

Well, if I got paid for what I do the job title would be Hotel and Estate Manager.

In truth, I am a SAHM with a small Livery Yard/Stud/Smallholding so am a JOAT.
For actual income I raise goats, lots and lots of them and am also getting into ducks in a bigger way than I originally intended.

I am also halfway through a Reflexology Course which I doubt I will ever use.

Right now I am in Duck Herder mode heading off a flock before they disappear into the cornfield..........Great Escape averted ;)


Somedays I have loads of time for my own horses, other times the farm is like Grand Central Station and I have no time at all. Spare time also depends on the goat numbers, bottle feeding 30+ goats three times a day is somewhat time consuming.

im a training instrucor and teach all sorts of courses for people intending to go to sea, genwrally 9 - 5 but sometimes work away eg cruise ship in germany for 10 days in feb. horses r on diy and full if required
 
I'm a Licensed Conveyancer, work 9-5pm Mon - Fri. Have a 2yr old boy and very understanding husband. My Welsh D is field kept which takes some of the pressure off doing everyday stable chores (although not looking forward to winter) he's only 3yrs so don't have to worry about doing to much with him at the moment! its hard work but but anything worth having is! :D
 
I'm a full time disability support worker. I work alot of 24 hr shifts so I also get alot of time off which balances it out! I am also in the process of starting a small pet portrait business in my spare time.....the rest of my 'spare' time is spent looking after my horse! :D

I'm a self employed gardener and work 9-3 4 days a week.I'm lucky that this allows me to be around for my girls to ride after school every day and be around for farriers/dentists ect.
 
Nurse so work 13hr shifts. When on day shifts yard owner does horses, when on nights I go before and after work.
Usually only do 3 shifts a week so have plenty of time off
 
I work in the Executive Support/VIP team of a national satellite provider - go on take a guess :D. I deal with VIP accounts and any complaints that come down through our Executives - also assist call centre management on dealing with complaints and assist with escalations
 
I'm a Scientist with a big Pharma company. We work flextime which means I have to be there between 10 and 4 and outside of that I work my hours to suit me. Usually get in to work for between 7:30 and 8 and leave between 4 and 5. It's nice to have some flexibility to work round the horses.

Same! Except I ride most nights and days off so dont get back indoors till 8.30to 9pm most nights :rolleyes:
 
I'm a trainee solicitor working in Local Government insurance at the moment (8:15am-4:45pm), also part-time (but apparently completely in charge now due to 'bloomin' boss' who I've posted about before) secretary of STAGBI (Standardbred breed society) some evenings and weekends. Also between May and October I'm a part-time groom at a trotting yard so that takes up a lot of my 'spare time'!

Recently got back into riding but my Big Ears lives on the farm so takes 2 minutes to catch, brush and tack up. My dad rides as well so once the nights get too dark for me to ride when I get home from work he'll be riding her in the day to keep her fit for hunting.
