But thats my point, its something thats hard and so needs to be practised. If its not then there are some serious flaws in the athletes training schedules. Yes it may be expensive but at the end of the day this event as run currently is dangerous for both horse and rider for a large proportion of competitorsI'm sure if they're aiming for the Olympics they work as hard as they can to improve in every discipline ... they've certainly got a lot more guts than me!
It's not easy to hop on a strange horse and jump a four foot course unless it's something you do all the time - they might only be riding once or twice a week if they need to fit in running, swimming, shooting, fencing and working full time ...
It would be interesting to see a dressage test instead of the jumping.
