Well done you - I think it is so hard to stand up to a pro if you disagree with their method
Thank you. Now he'll jump anything I point him at because he's had the time and patience to be able to learn and take it all in. I just won't compromise his welfare for anyone, he's more important than the ego of some so called professional!

I once as a kid sat on a “dancing horse” in Egypt. And to make it do it’s “dance” which was just a pretty poor piaffe where the horse stomped each back leg HARD, you had to tap and I mean tap it on the base of the tail with a crop. The man was delighted to tell me he’d trained it by doing this till this delightful young Arab stallion would kick in frustration, rather than the old way of tying it between bars and flogging it. He was keen to show off how much better he treated his horses then he’d been taught. Don’t get me wrong there was a lot to be desired but he was genuine and his horses at the display had modern bits on, were well fed etc. I would rate him as more of a horseman than these riders. He at least cared for them and wanted to be better.

That video is disgusting, disheartening and shocking. I mean if you have to spur, smack and jag in the mouth to get the movement and be a good rider? I don’t want to be a good rider anymore.

We will loose our social licence, and fast. And frankly I can’t watch these videos again and again and try and justify that we shouldn’t.
