Hi all Quick question about monoflap saddle fitting. I recently purchased a dressage monoflap for my pony. The fit is OK though with the current flocking I need a front riser to help with the saddle balance. The pony goes well in and and the fit generally seems OK. Long term in will try get...

Premier equine kevlar tendon boots sizing

Hi all I just bought a set of premier equine kevlar tendon boots. I got medium as the size guide suggested. Now that they arrived they seem ver long. I have a barely 15h connie who would have pretty short cannons and who is currently out at grass in the other end of the country so can't try...

    Veterinary Probiotic - cheaper alternative???

Comfort gut isnt a probiotic its charcoal that is supposed to improve stomach pH and aid digestion. You could try some natural probiotic yoghurt though this may be a pain to manage with storage etc long term... can be easier to just syringe it to them. Not sure of the dosage but ive heard good...

Best bit foe strong pony that tends to overbend

Rode him myself over a course of poles last night which I haven't done in ages. He is getting pretty strong and is very difficult to get him back in between he's not actually going overbent as i would have expected and does chuck his head up. He only gets a bit backward/overbent from being hung...

Best bit foe strong pony that tends to overbend

He just drops behind the bit because she's having to pull on him a lot to maintain control. He tanks with her in between the fences so its a bit more of a battle than it should be with him being keen to get the job done. I've had this issue with him myself and if you give and take the rein he...

Best bit foe strong pony that tends to overbend

So thinking I might need to upgrade to a lightly stronger bit for my 14.2 connie as hes getting strong jumping with his sharer and she just needs a lttle help in betweeen fences. Hes fine in his loose ring snaffle for everything else, but just runs through it when jumping. My issue is he tends...

Hi All My 6 year old connie has a click in one of his hind legs. It started about a year ago, he might grow out of it as hes only this year really properly filling out. It doesnt cause him any problems lamesness or stiffness, (I'd just rather he didnt do it) im working on building his hind...

    Chickens - blood in poo

As above coccidiosis tends to be more red and splattered though it can be subclinical. If it is coccidiosis then they will need meds. The parasite (Emeria) produced spores that are very resilliant so you would need to disinfect the whole place to try remove as many as possible to prevent...

    Saddle for Connemara. Tight budget!!

Only thing that would touch my connie was a kent and masters GP. Thet tend to mearue up short so i ended up with a 17.5 ut fits him like a 17. The changeable gullets and girthing options are great as ou can tailor them for the pony. I paid 900 euros new but you could get second hand much cheaper

Mystery lameness, could it be ovaries? Also in veterinary

The swollen teats in the absence of infection could indicate phantom pregnancy maybe? Regumate contains progesterone so if she was on it for a prolonged period as far as her body is concerned could be mimicing pregnancy? Though there is no foetus to give the maternal regognition of pregnancy. Im...

A berneys prob wont fit a horse thats a bit awkward saddle wise and they don't come out you have to go to them. Holmstead has someone that fits saddles but again you have to go to them and im not sure if shes a master saddler or not. Saoise saddlery does nationwide fitting I think though ive...

Help with a mare bits !!

Id say shes torn herself foaling, She'd possibly be more susceptable to uterine infections during her seasons when her cervix is open. Its hard to tell from the photo though, if the hole opens into her vagina then its more likely as faeces can pass into her vagina and cause a bacterial...

    Chronic Spay Scar Opening?

Firstly im not a vet. How are the wound edges looking? with the time that has passed its could be possible that the edges have partially healed without knitting together properly? It might be a case of she needs to be cut again to allow exposure of fresh tissue to allow the wound to heal properly?
