Thanks everyone for the replies. All very helpful! I will have a look through the links and see what there is. It's nice to know from people who use them to give a true opinion! Thanks again!
Hi all!
I have recently tried riding my horse in a treeless saddle. It's a very basic saddle which I borrowed just to get a feel of it and see how Holly went and have to say I was quite impressed with the difference. I have now decided to try to find a treeless to buy but am struggling to...
OK, so should add she's out fairly regularly, the venue is only down the road so she knows it well. she's not scared of the boards, flowers, cars, boxes... she jumps perfectly there, she just gets tense doing dressage...
And I don't have any problems with the other horses I compete, so pretty...
Hi all!!
I'm really struggling to settle my horse down at dressage. She warms up absolutely beautifully, but as soon as we enter the arena it's like a switch goes in her brain... she's really tense, canters when we should be trotting, fixes her head in the air, you name it! Any suggestions to...
WOW!! There's some fab pics on here!! So here's mine... not quite as impressive as most on here... but I feel like Holly's come a long way with me so here goes...
This photo is from our first ever go at XC
When I saw this picture, I realised she had a jump!!

Have you tried jumping and stopping?? As in... the approach looks quite under control?! I was taught on a horse who went very much like yours does... We did an exercise where I did the jump, halted as soon as...
Thanks for all the comments... all very helpful to see people's opinions on her...
Star, you hit the nail on the head with 'she doesn't clearly fit into one category'!!
She has a fab jump, and that's what she does best... I was talking to someone the other day who said they sometimes now...
thanks for the advice so far... keep it coming please :)
She's 11 and is 15.2hh.
No dorsal stripe.
Only looking at doing local level and she's not registered.
Hi all...
I'm thinking of doing some showing with Holly this year, but I've never really had a go at it so need some advice.
I posted in picture gallery but not much response so thought I'd try in here!! (original post was how to show holly?!)
I don't know very much of her history...
It probably depends on how bad it is... one on our yard did hers really badly, and wasn't even out of the stable for about 4 months. But another one did a suspensory and he was retired because we never thought he'd come sound again with his age. He was turned away completely because we knew he...
