Police probe into reported ‘bully dog’ attack on woman and horse

POLICE are investigating reports that a woman and her horse were attacked by a ‘bully-type dog’.

It is said that the dog tried to bite the horse and bit the woman’s foot, before chasing them into a nearby farm, leaving the rider ‘absolutely terrified’.

It was described as being black with its ears cropped, and it was a ‘no doubt a stereotypical bully dog’, with its head ‘twice the sound of a football’.

The woman who reported the incident said: “We go walking up a private lane, and alongside the lane is a public footpath with trees and hedges.

“At around 5pm on Wednesday evening, a dog came running and the owner told me not to worry as he is really friendly.

“I said be careful, as if he comes near my horse he will probably get kicked. The dog has gone to bite my horse’s leg so mine has walloped it.

“Then it was circling around him, jumping up to try and get hold of his throat. Then it got hold of my foot, but luckily not latched on.

“I galloped off and it came chasing me back to the farm, where it tried to attack another horse in a stable.

“I tried to shoo the dog off, luckily it hasn’t got me, it just squared up to me. The owner came walking around and said he had never done anything like this before.”

She said that she was lucky to be on her horse at the time, as if she had not, she ‘dreads to think what would have happened’.

“If that was a child on a smaller horse, there would’ve been a dead horse and a very injured human,” she added.

“It was horrific. I’m absolutely terrified. Horses are my hobby and keep me sane, and I’m terrified to go about my daily hobby after a stressful day at work.

“There should be nowhere safer than a private lane.

“My horse has to go back to the vets for a check-up because he's in rehabilitation for a ligament injury, but for him to have to gallop on concrete has probably done damage to that leg.”
I’d have been terrified, my horse hated dogs. I can’t understand why owners aren’t muzzling. 🤬

Saw my first xl for ages yesterday driving home, unmuzzled, allowed to pull the owner so it could sniff someone’s leg. I think I’d cross the road to avoid these days, definitely if I had the boys with me.

Do you know I was only part way through reading and as soon as it mentioned the police weren't particularly interested, I guessed it had been assumed the man and his son with the horse were travellers!

Now hands up, I have had some run ins with gentlemen of the road, but no way should their safety and the safety of their horse be any less worthy of protection under the law than you or I.🙁

How terrifying for that poor horse and its owner. I too am not a fan of the travelling community due to problems around here but I would not hesitate to help them if I could in a situation like that and the police should be referred to the complaints committee if it is true they said no crime was committed.

ITV reporting that an XL has been shot in Scotland after it attacked another dog. The dog had been sent to Scotland from England (prior to the ban).

The dog was as called Kilo.
It’s ’impressive’ though, that it was shot just for attacking a dog. The police wouldn’t even turn up in England for that. 😞

It’s sounding like a right sh!t show (if FB reports are to be believed). The XL was horrifically beaten by the ‘hero’ restrainer after it was attacked by an off lead collie. Then shot by police as it lay prone on the ground.
“If FB reports are to be believed” kind of sums it up: I’ll be waiting for actual reporting. If three people were injured then it’s likely to be more complicated than just a dog fight.

Whilst I roundly agree, I've had some really stupid injuries from sticking my hand into a dog fight. Oh and getting knocked flying 😬🙄

Ms Sebastian described the attack as a "freak accident", and said her "heart breaks for the dog's owner". o_O

He isn’t on my feed but shows up regularly in the reels. If he isn’t fully dressed I don’t watch as he is quite hairy and not my type, in fact I find him quite creepy but he does do good work with rescue dogs so he can’t be all bad 🙂
Sounds a bit like our local "man of the cloth" . . .

Might not be life threatening but a very nasty injury which will need on going treatment , poor little girl, if she was mine I would be insisting the dog was PTS whatever breed it is, I wouldn’t be heartbroken for the owner … what a thing to say when her daughter has such horrific injury
