Another fatal dog attack

Two adults hurt and 3 kids safe after they were playing hide and seek at almost midnight, and the dog became aggravated.

Several articles, one of which says the breed of dog is being determined. FB says is was a bull type.

Not 'hide and seek' at all. Seems more like resource guarding handled badly.

No dog should do that, and it's a shite situation, but uh, there were likely some big signs there. I do believe that some dogs do just uncontrollably snap, especially those of certain breeding, but in this scenario this was probably a tragedy in the making for a bit...

God almighty how utterly awful.
.
I know, doesn't bear thinking about, there was a video posted that someone filmed while they were shooting the dogs, I'm sure a lot of people will have been traumatised by this. I used to live near there so it particularly caught my eye.

Apparently they weren't his. He was walking along the road when one attacked for no reason. The owner has been arrested. Apparently the gentleman is in a critical but stable condition.
Apparently it took 19 on target shots to finish them according to the article. Terrifying. That poor man.

I met a dog today that I pray never escapes its handler. Rather overweight very big brindle thing that the owner told me was a Presa Canario. I kept well clear of it as I had seen it was on a yellow lead (long line) and was well under control. However as I walked away it erupted, barking and snarling. I just hope the lead was stronger than it looked. My dogs wouldn't have stood a chance against that and they were both scared by it which is unusual for them

I met a young XL in a local dog field, it was super friendly and seemed nice natured but there was just something about him that made me feel scared, he wasn't nasty in any way but something in my gut told me to keep my distance. He was only the size of my lab x but his head was enormous! your experience sounds very scary.

Does anyone know if there are stats anywhere showing attacks pre and post ban? It does seem to have slowed down slightly but it absolutely has not in any shape or form stopped.
As far as I know nobody collects official data about attacks by particular breeds that covers the whole country, if that is what you mean. The NHS records numbers of people admitted to hospital because of injuries caused by dogs, about 7,000 a year in England and Wales last time I looked, but there is obviously a time lag.

Unregistered as well

I hope the 39 year old woman under arrest and the 40 year old man who has run away and left her to it end up in prison.

The main attacking dog chased that poor old man into a garden and have mostly ripped his head to pieces. If he lives he will never be the same again.

This was a town not far away from me, Warrington, and it frightens me a lot. The police have confirmed that they put 19 rounds into 2 dogs to down them. The dogs were also let down.
