I find that Lab x Pitbull mixes are common here, idk about over there. Not out of the realm of possibilities to have a Lab bull terrier mix, and naturally, they'd focus on the Lab part.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, the colouring, the eyes and something about the head shapes makes me think that it could be a pit bull cross, they are here despite the 30 year ban, disguised as Irish Staffs, LabxStaffs and now Bullies.

My closest friend is a vet and I have many vets as friends
RSPCA’s officers are trained the euthanise animals it’s part of their job
I watched them do it
You are right Goldenstar.

I wanted to be an RSPCA officer years ago. But I read somewhere that they have to go to a slaughter house and use a humane captive bolt on a cow and also put to sleep a puppy or kitten as part of their training. I didn't think I would be capable of doing either in a non emergency situation so I didn't proceed with my application.
How true what I read was, I have no idea. I'm usually pretty cool in an emergency situation as I've been faced with a few over the 30 years or so of horse ownership so I think I have a level head. Shame really. Its the ongoing relentless heartache over a single animal of my own that I'm not so good at coping with.

'There is no reason to believe that genetics doesn't play a role in dog aggression'

Veterinary Record October 2023

I don't know how anyone can say this breed* isn't any more dangerous than others when that article states XLBs make up 0.1% of the dog population but over the last year have been responsible for nearly 70% of fatal dog attacks on humans. Having seen other stats earlier in the year I was aware that the number of attacks were disproportionately being carried out by XLBs, but that ratio is fairly shocking.

Other breeds are also owned by numpty owners, so it can't all be down to the type of people owning XLBs as many defenders of the breed keep saying.

*As a whole, I realise there will be some individual dogs who never attack.

Nottinghamshire Police. 27.10.23

We are appealing for the public's help after a dog attack is believed to have claimed the life of a beloved family pet.

The eight-year-old Chihuahua was walking with its owner in Nobel Road, Clifton, when it was attacked by a bull-breed type dog and carried away in its jaws.

The injured Chihuahua, which was set upon at around 10.45pm on the evening of 8 October, has not been seen again and is believed to be dead.

Our officers, who have carried out extensive enquiries in the local area, are now appealing for additional footage from doorbell, CCTV and dashboard cameras.

PC Kane Dunker said: “This was a shocking incident that has understandably caused a huge amount of distress to this animal’s owners.

“We understand that dogs can be an integral part of a family home and are determined to track down the animal responsible and its owner.

“We have already viewed a large amount of footage and carried out door-to-door activities, but now want to hear from anyone else with relevant information – particularly those who may have dashcam or CCTV footage recorded at around the time of this incident.

“We particularly want to identify a large bull terrier type dog and a small number of men in tracksuits seen in the area at the time.”

Anyone with additional information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 807 of 8 October 2023.
